Today, alleged Eritrean trafficker ‘Kidane’ is appearing before a Dutch court for crimes he is suspected of committing against migrants in Libya. While the case is important, it overlooks the systematicity, scale, and context of his actions.
The confirmation of charges hearing for Khaled Mohamed Ali El Hishri marks a significant step toward accountability for detention-related crimes in Libya, with allegations linked to Mitiga Prison in Tripoli now before the International Criminal Court (ICC).
