The power generating jet turbines provide a calming white noise for local residents to enjoy. The heat island provides comfort that will lower their heating bills in winter… it’s all upsides
Hassett: "Data centers are very good for towns bc they create so many jobs & bring people in with high incomes that can buy houses & stuff like that. So if you take a sleepy town that hasn't seen much in the last 30 years & put a data center there, there are gonna be a bunch of happy residents."
This hearing is driven entirely by Elon Musk's algorithm. Not a single normie voter alive today has thought about Anthony Fauci for at least five years. On X this is a pressing issue - maybe the pressing issue - of the day. It doesn't matter at all.
Moreno to Fauci: "Who the fuck did you think you were?"
Van back from genset rebuild, new AC and 100W more solar (400W total). Got the van catified. Zoe is chill in the van and has no desire to escape. Washburn is a maniac so it’s mainly for him: added dowels and clamps to secure the rear screen, velcro added to secure the slider screen. #vanlife
Washburn trying out his new three point harness from Sweden. Cooler and more secure than the Velcro type and less pressure on the scruff. He’s got a long van trip in the fall we are acclimating for. #vanlife
I’ve decided to sell off the entirety of my spacex patch collection. That fucker took away 11 month of my livelihood and I am happy to be rid of it. Over 400 patches, souvenirs, coins blah blah. One lot big lot. This isn’t even all of it:
I wonder if/when the geolocation for photos I took in Grand Staircase-Escalante or Bears Ears National Monuments will fail to show up in my iOS photos search because the region has changed. I hate all of this.
Bears Ears is an interconnected living cultural landscape. Its significance cannot be reduced to individual sites because the relationships among its waters, plants, animals, and sacred places give this ancestral homeland its meaning. Map courtesy of The Wilderness Society.
Bears Ear National Monument is so stunning, it was an area we drove through a few years ago and made a point to take an entire week for the next year, just savoring every mile of UT-95 from Blanding to Hanksville. This is an overlook of White Canyon looking toward the Henry Mountains. #vanlife
I printed a Magellan payload because my cutaway IUS was looking a little lonely. It’s a really tall stack at 1/32. #NASA
Hundreds, if not thousands, of ancestral Puebloan sites will lose any semblance of protection. It is not like looters care, but now there's little to protect these sites. Google "Operation Cerberus Action" and see just the kind of people who are out there just salivating at this executive order.
One of the more beautiful spots to have woken up on our trip through Bears Ear NM last year. White Canyon is stunning. This is no longer protected.
The concrete slumlord says "[you] can't do anything... you can virtually not even walk on it" regarding Bears Ears and Grand-Staircase Escalante NMs. I hate this.
Finally able to start up the rock tumblers again. We've dug out of the abyss from my unemployment and can purchase a new liner for our big tumbler and more grit. Looking forward to exploring Wyoming in the fall to add more rocks. #rockhounding

Long weekend of peopling. Helped my wife with her maker booth at Woodinville Market Fair on Saturday and a car show at Mill Creek fest on Sunday. I am tired from a lot extrovering. The Celica won Owner's Choice, though, which is a big honor (chosen by other car owners in the show).
The inherent vagueness of the “Is he dead yet?” T-shirts and such is working wonders.
It's #NationalKittenDay! Washburn is just under the wire at 11 months now, how much this gremlin has grown. Originally named Avis, as he was found in an Oahu car rental parking lot. He's now a lanky 12lb dingus with the longest tail I've ever seen. Destroyer of collectibles, trash-can sitter.
Hey so, if you use Waymo driverless car services, you are aiding and abetting fascism. Waymo helps ICE agents locate people to terrorize and abduct. The company willingly shares all facial recognition, license plate and GPS data with ICE and other law enforcement agencies—no subpoena required.

New 1/32 scale cutaway Boeing Inertial Upper Stage (IUS) launch system model. I saw a vintage contractor model and though it would be fun to replicate with a cutaway showing the solid fuel and initiators. Used by Titan and shuttle for geostationary and interplanetary missions. #3dprinting #nasa
This bsky algo is generally pretty good, a nice feed of cats and rocks, but all of these people with their recently dead cats? I don't need that. I am sorry for their losses, but I don't really need to see that content.
We had a small #earthquake tonight, a 3.8 forty miles to the north near Oak Harbor. I would have missed it if our tv cabinet didn’t rattle. Turns out it was enough to push my 3d printer’s hot end into the print causing it to topple. Should I call FEMA? #earthquake
Bethan's Rock is a small grey stone on display at Poole Museum in Poole, England. It was donated to the museum in 2019 by a five-year-old girl named Bethan, and it has since attracted significant attention on social media and become the museum's most famous object. - Wikipedia
