Research from the Northern Ireland Life and Times Survey shows broad public support for the Irish language & Ulster-Scots. The study, led by LIFELANGS Co-PIs Dr Aisling O'Boyle, Prof Lorna Carson & ARK CoDirector Dr Paula Devine found robust public support for both Irish language & Ulster-Scots.

We're a Strand II Emerging Hubs of Excellence project (2025 – 2029) funded under the North South Research Programme. NSRP is a collaborative scheme under the Government’s Shared Island Fund, administered by the HEA for the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research Innovation and Science.
We'll gather evidence about how people use different languages and live in different cultural settings. With local communities and external partners, we'll collect data on how people of all ages learn and use languages—both 🗣️and🧏♀️— in places like homes, schools, workplaces, and social spaces.
