Faber doomed us all. I did what I felt was necessary, and nothing more. Do you think it did not pain me to do so? Had I not, would you have survived? I did not want to leave that to chance.
My ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐ฑ๐ฆ was that the Didact would recover in his time following the firing of the ring. That his mind would be quelled by the Domain. But too late did we realize that the firing of the rings would damage the Domain. I tried to send word, but it went unread for a millennium.
I am NOT the grand architect of our collective demise. My work ensured that life would survive after Fabers rings destroyed everything the Flood feasted upon. Even I could not defeat the Flood.
What I โwantโ is irrelevant. It was what was ๐ด๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ฐ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฅ to happen. So many mistakes. So many egos.
Humanity was meant to carry the Mantle, as we once did. The Flood intervened, and our own hubris blinded us. I attempted to right a wrong, though it did not go completely to plan.

What little of a Council that remains, yes. We are rebuilding, and there is so much to be done. A formal gathering of the remaining members of our race has yet to be arranged.
