It's really happening! We're kicking off the first beta tests for the new Lingscape app. Unlike before, the app isn't being developed natively for iOS and Android, but is based on the cross-platform framework Flutter.

🚧 Service-Skeet 🚧 We are currently experiencing issues with the Lingscape server. The app and web platform are not functioning properly. We are investigating the issue and hope to resolve it soon. However, it’s the weekend, and IT is not in service, so it may take some time.
Saw this one in the university canteen today. In terms of project dreams, this is definitely where we hope Lingscape will end up someday.
There’s big news from Lingscape headquarters: We just signed contracts with our development partners to revamp the entire platform. Over the next few months, we will rebuild the apps and web platform from the ground up. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay in touch!

This week, Lingscape is visiting @idsmannheim.bsky.social, where we are exchanging ideas with a growing community of language researchers who are interested in participatory approaches. In this context, @questoph.bsky.social talks about our experiences from already nine years with Lingscape.
Watch out for the talk by Jannis Androutsopoulos in our talk series. Next Friday, Jannis will be „Exploring the online-offline nexus: meaning-making at the interfaces of physical and virtual (inter)action.“ Join us on 25 April, 10.15am (UTC+2), via this link: cucolab.uni.lu/blog/convers...
Here’s a little update log for the bug fixes and new features to arrive in the coming weeks/months. Should you spot any bug when working with the app, make sure to drop us a line. — 1. The bug on Android leading to upload duplicates in the repository has been fixed.

Speaking of news: When working with the app or accessing the website, you might notice some technical hiccups in the coming weeks. We’re currently updating the technical base and moving stuff around on servers. We promise to be as quick as possible and avoid downtime as much as possible.
Look at that! Lingscape has arrived on Bluesky. It was about time… We will use this channel mainly for news about the project but will also try and showcase some of the awesome projects hosted on our platform. And post images occasionally. #linguistics #linguisticlandscape #citizenscience
