It's been a long, winding journey, cutting a path through uncharted territory.

No, and no. 1) Effort started before AI 2) Micron machines are only useful to micron humans at scale 3) Car is built by huge machines, parabolically more difficult to erect than 7 microns toys. 4) Per obj tooling is abt max efficiency, building per obj machine is dumdum .

IF this “matter compiler” invention proves out, we are fully entering sci-fi territory and things that are already moving fast will only begin to move even faster.

We're just gonna stroll by the graveyard of this guy's hopes and dreams which apparently involve mostly running over his neighbors on the sidewalks and robbing/shooting up neighborhood businesses? And.... this guy is why I kept a tire iron underneath my register so long ago.

I mean why bother with all of this? Why even bother with the pretense of art and media? just hook an electrode up to the dopamine center in your brain and keep pressing the button like you're a rat in a fucking skinner machine. Go sit in a dark box hooked up to hoses forever

Great 🧵 and knew Cthulhu was gonna make a showing. These twits love love love squid face ( friends have been profiting off that unrequited love forever). Do think they whiffed Barker's writing though. PH was rule follower until they weren't. Opportunistic little shit who got theirs in the end.

Since everyone started talking about Yudkowsky last week, I think we should talk about the other person who created contemporary AI discourse: Nick Land. This will be written for a general audience, and for something more substantial I'd recommend @eruditorumpress.com's Neoreaction: A Basilisk

it’s become so normal for people to disclose their rapes to appeal to people’s humanity around rape cases that we don’t think about how disgusting the need to do that is put the worst moment of your life out for public consumption, so that half the comments can call you a liar.

Co is full of shit. Costs are gonna be around ~$13k to drop a reasonable gn unless burning cash for names or pages. Asked this❓ of a peep, w/numerous curr gn output, when AI image was hyping so I could do a casual pro forma on prod costs to slap someone who insisted it was the future.

The Singapore-based startup says its AI-powered platform can halve graphic novel production time and cost. “This is not a self-driving car,” notes CEO Anumeha Bisaria. “It’s more like handing a Ferrari to someone who already knows how to drive.” buff.ly/YOXZgZY

.02 of very discounted language for describing the output. hallucination → actuality variant output - AVO the model shows bias → actuality variant output causing asymmetrically deviant outcomes - 🥑

For reasons mysterious to me, Will Stancil is continuing his crash out about language used to describe LLMs, moving on from raning about "stochastic parrots" to picking up on this piece that @nannainie.bsky.social and I published earlier this summer: buttondown.com/maiht3k/arch... >>

This article brings up a f'ing lot for moi 🧵. First, amazing 🥾 stomp on a fire 🐜 nest that has taken over tech. Deets I was unaware of, but I knew a cult when I👃 one (did my time, Bane in the Pit -but nicer- long ago). So didn't cross rat pack until rats started crossing mine.

Always amused how much the preying on youth motif maps from porn->sports->art->ent->SV. Meet the new sins, just like the old sins. Too much money, too little oversight and the same happens over & over & over. Far more get eaten then eat. Why to smash monopolies.

20 years ago, I sometimes played big sister/ cool aunt to small circles of teens coming out to YCombinator etc., as east coast freshmen from MIT etc, or even as overseas high school students as young as 15/17. I wasn’t in tech, and felt truly lucky to know them a little at their formative stage.
