I write things. And make things. All the things. chrisdodds.net My debut, Necessary Cuts (https://necessarycuts.com), won the @miamioh-press.bsky.social Novella Prize and will land in 2027. Other work in Pithead Chapel, Marrow Magazine, and BULL.

Excited to have "Unknown Caller" in @pitheadchapel.bsky.social . They have been an aspirational target since I picked writing back up — and it's more proof that my particular flavor of alexithymia and neuro-spiciness has a home outside my own head. 😀 pitheadchapel.com/unknown-call...

Unknown Caller

Chris Dodds   Fourth missed call from the same unknown number. No message. My wrist complains when I flip the phone onto its face on my desk.  I rub the joint, which makes my other wrist ache. *** …

Trying a three person multi-player variant of Thousand Year Old Vampire as a letter/email writing game and struggling to figure out the right balance of structure versus letting it all go off the rails. Very fun though. Would be curious to hear tips from anyone else who has tried this.

I’ve reached the “I should pickup piano again” phase of writing/editing procrastination. It’s slightly tempered by limiting myself to a 49 key MIDI keyboard that destroys my pinky tendons.

Earnest lit journal question: What is the thought behind using Issuu (or PDF) for publication of digital-only journals? I mostly understand the use case for those who do physical and digital (I think).

It hurts my heart a little every time I come across a lit journal with really good work and no infrastructure for organic discoverability — coherent URL slugs, sitemaps, valid SSL certs, media cards. Social media as the only avenue of discovery is really fragile.
