It was great tenth edition of Summer Training in Experimental Methods - STEM X! We had a full week of courses on ultrasound tongue imaging, Praat and acoustic analysis, eye-tracking, tools for perception studies, and EEG.

We thank the team from NOVA SBE Public Policy Institute for their invitation to Sónia Frota to participate as an expert in the Rethinking Early Childhood Policy Workshop - two intense days of knowledge sharing and discussions towards evidence-based public policy recommendations.

We have just presented at the Child Language Symposium 2026 (UCL) work on the perception-production link in infant perception of prosody in typical and atypical development, and on prosodic training in dyslexia. We thank the audience for the great interest in our work!

We’re excited to welcome Begoña Pericas Herrero to our lab as a postdoctoral researcher. Begoña will be helping in the EEG lab for our project exploring how gamified training can support second-language learners in mastering new phonemes.

We’re delighted to welcome Eva Gonzalo Gómez for a research stay in our lab. A PhD candidate in Applied Linguistics at the University of Salamanca, Eva studies how adult English speakers acquire L2 Spanish phonetics and phonology.
