My grandmother at 81 years of age, passed in 1988, key inspiration for my #historicalfictionnovel Time Enough. She lived through horse and buggy days all the way to see the moon landing. Homesteader, entrepreneur, restaurant owner, through the Depression. Brave & resilient. A role model for today.

Wonderful to speak with Camille about how our grandmothers actually lived, as opposed to the trend towards a false, romantic version in books and media. In my novel Time Enough, I describe the woman’s journey in all its strengths, false steps, and hardships in a world with few options.
A favourite quote from my #historicalfiction novel Time Enough. The theme: the loss suffered by those forced to emigrate, leaving everyone and everything they know behind. Have you had to leave home and felt that longing to go back? You can’t but the pain is deep.

Delighted that my poem Truth Lies placed second in the War of the Words Anthology 2026 for the @whenwordscollidefestival #yyc! The poem draws a parallel with Joan of Arc’s “trial” and execution in the 1400’s and the Epstein files today. I hope justice doesn’t take so long.
📚✨ Books Worth Reading ✨📚 🏡 What survives when everything familiar must be left behind? 📖 Time Enough by Lise Mayne is a sweeping historical saga of family, resilience, love, loss, and the enduring search for home. maryanneyarde.blogspot.com/2026/06/time... @lisemayneauthor.bsky.social 💙📚
Delighted to be interviewed for @mrswritepodcast this morning. Writers helping writers learn and grow their craft and marketing skills. #mentorship is crucial for development as a writer. I’ll let you know when it’s live!
If you’re retired, or about to, do you have an idea for what’s next? This article in #albertaseniorliving presents my journey to becoming a published author over the past thirteen years. Goethe said: “If you have a dream, begin…It has magic in it.” www.albertaseniorliving.ca/latest-edition. P 22.
Excited to be presenting two sessions at Wordbridge #yql April 18-19th, one on the importance of #mentorship and the other is a panel on travelling for research. The lineup is great, so if you are a writer in #southernalberta check it out! 😊

#valentinesday is precious to me. I think of all the love I’ve received. The heart rock on the left was a gift from a stranger on the beach, #capebreton, 2018. The kindness of strangers has defined my life. The card was from my husband, 2016. What a find for this girl! “Love is all you need.”
Grammies are reflective of such a tiny percentage of contemporary music that it doesn’t even register. There are scientific studies showing that in general ppl stop seeking new music around the age 28 and believe the music of their younger days is superior. There’s great music in every era
My #historicalfiction novel Time Enough is a finalist in the @canadian.booklibrary Awards, 2026 Find the link to vote, on their instagram account. I’m very grateful for the support!
Alberta has passed Bill 11, allowing doctors to charge unlimited fees at for-profit clinics while working in the public system. This is American-style health care, and if Alberta succeeds, other provinces will follow. Join me: share.nwmd.social/s/88GSpS4U

I’m canning #bcfruit as I have for fifty years. My grandmother taught me, as her mother (on right) taught her, back in #homesteadingdays. A taste of summer, come winter, but then, it meant survival as described in my #historicalfiction #immigrationsaga Time Enough.
Today in Alberta - August 19: The UCP government reverses its changes to expense disclosure policy. It had removed the requirement that cabinet and senior staff disclose receipts for expenses over $100, and it removed eight years of reports from a public website. It promises to restore the reports.
