The cat has melted in front of the fire, I have gathered kale from the garden before this week’s big freeze, and I’m flipping between a fiction book and these (snagged 6 glass demijohns, fermenting buckets, and related odds and ends from a neighbour 🤓) Have a great 2026, you lot

Two glass demijohns and three well-worn books on home winemaking sit on a physio bench

I never want to live in London again, but this visit hasn’t been half bad so far. I thought my now-rural brain would struggle but nope, it all snaps back into place

New gig starts tomorrow and I’m excited, but also more anxious than usual. Can’t afford more time off to recover from the toxic job I quit, so back on the horse I go!

When you are stuck in bed-gaming mode because sitting up hurts too much, so your partner surprises you with fairy lights to brighten the view ❤️

A dim room with Hades 2 projected on the ceiling. A dark curtain blocking sunlight is festooned with a string of cheerful coloured lights

Tiny birds were VERY ready for this feeder top up! Getting a dozen at a time but managed to capture a few. Male and female pheasant stroll through to snack on whatever drops; haven’t gotten a photo of them yet. And next door’s little black cat sits at a distance and watches them all

Kagi+Orion (search engine you pay for vs being the product & privacy-focused browser) are really good so far. I also like that my new (used) iPhone lets me toggle browsers and use any source of truth for site logins. Not the Linux phone of my dreams yet, but slight improvement.

My brain has decided I’ve had enough downtime and the only way to be unemployed now is to keep tackling the backlog of house chores. At least I’m getting a lot of audiobook time as I shift and scrub things…

Drifty in-between time while I’m unemployed. Snow let up so I made it out to the garden. Plenty to harvest, & even ripe tomatoes in the greenhouse! Watching YouTube talks on subjects I’m interested in. And ofc always reading. Mask will be up soon enough. Now I have a little time to just be me.

Unfollow or block every single person who uses body shaming or homophobia to attack anyone, including fascists. It’s just lazy. And wrong. Fash are such easy targets, we can all do better. And the attack never lands on them. It lands on the fat/old/queer person who reads it.

PSA: if you are a cannabis grower in the United States or have been thinking about starting to grow, get any seeds you’ve been wanting to buy online before the end of the year. The new changes to the hemp laws make buying seeds online illegal again as of January 1, 2026

Me: it’s all muscle memory now, I can play the post-ending version of Hades 2 on painkillers after a hard day deep-cleaning the house. I want to finish the story, it’ll be fine. Game: surprise! You now randomly drop into the first game’s boss fight no matter how few boons you have #gaming #hades2
