Look at this big, beautiful Pandorus Sphinx moth caterpillar! It's feeding on Virginia Creeper, which is its host plant. It will become a lovely, green moth. A great reason to let Virginia Creeper grow in your garden/yard. #caterpillar #nature #invertebrate #nativeplants #insect

Progress thus far on the scrappy colors quilt. I added wide sashing in complementary colorways. It does jumble it up a bit, but I kind of like the complexity. I'm considering taking the sashing rectangles and arranging them into a border instead. Opinions welcome.

I'm starting a new scrap quilt experiment. No plan, just a vague guideline to start with color family blocks. Is it just me, or do scrap quilts NOT actually make a dent in the volume of scraps?

Look at this amazing #insect! I believe it's a Black Giant Icneumanoid Wasp, Megarhyssa atrata. This is a female, and that long "tail" is her ovipositor. She can drill into wood with it! #invertebrate

I just finished this #native plant garden. It has a beauty berry bush, a Joe-Pye cultivar that will only get 5 feet tall, some Amsonia, Culver's root, coreopsis, shrubby St. Johns Wort, butterfly weed, and bee balm.

I believe this is an Acadian Flycatcher diving and splashing in my backyard creek. I saw it for this several times (I read this is a unique behavior they do, and there are definitely Acadian Flycatchers in the woods here). Sorry for the video quality... #birds 🐦
