I am not a Woman Who Runs with the Wolves, I am a Writer Who Naps with Her Cat.

🥵 Well, those were NOT ’mild, fruity’ chillies, as promised on the label. It made for a very nice prawn pathia, but I seem to have gone slightly deaf.

Well, this morning’s mouse was only shamming dead. So that was fun for everybody. I didn’t know I could hit that high note. Or that my hand-eye coordination would let me (re)grab a mouse in midair. I don’t think it’s in the best of health, but it’s outside and not in the cat’s gob.

Well, here’s a blast from the past. No, it isn’t a misshapen musical instrument - Mum turned out a cupboard and found my old fencing kit. I doubt the breeches fit any more, but the foils are fine.

Lumpy black sports bag on a bed

Fried sardines with caponata for tea - husband deeply unsure about aubergine and celery. Opened up my manuscript today for the first time in months (Dad’s illness then passing has been tough) - didn’t do much, but it’s something.

Just chased the cat and her very lively loud ‘gift’ back out into the garden - couldn’t get it away from her in time, but it’ll have a better chance outside than under the cupboard. Age is not slowing her down, murderous furry horror.

Sardines on toast should not take an hour to make, no matter how fancy the topping! They better be tasty. (Parmesan, capers, anchovies, lemon, chili, garlic- and a cucumber fennel salad)

There is a mouse Somewhere in the bedroom. Cat has become bored with it refusing to come out to play and has gone to find another one. I have shut the door and left windows open. It is too hot for this.

Small shower here, and my cat is sitting on the garden path with her face turned up, letting the rain ping off her whiskers. Bliss. It’s no fun having a thick fur coat in thus weather.
