We are starting a new project for 2026 - Letters to Peru. William Corah he of Coalville Times fame, in his early 20s wrote to a young lady in Peru starting in 1919 and ending in 1928. Extracting the local history stories and facts will be a major project over the next year or two.#LeicsLibraries

Finding stories about the Windmill Public House in Loughborough, 1883 William Parker stole a ham valued at 15s from the kitchen of the Windmill Inn. He was sentenced to two months hard labour in prison. #localhistory #loughborough
Working today on stories of medieval Loughborough. Medieval Loughborough people would have kept livestock. Animals found wandering free would be taken to the local pound called the Pinfold until the owner came to collect them and paid a fine. Pinfold gate was the street that led to the Pinfold.
