Our final speaker is Peijun Zhang! Peijun will tell us about advances in cryo-electron microscopy and tomography for studying macromolecular complexes in situ, with applications to viral infection, cellular signalling and the structural mechanisms underlying host–pathogen interactions
We're excited to welcome Fides Zenk! Fides will present single-cell epigenomic approaches to reconstruct human neurodevelopment, examining how dynamic histone modifications and gene regulatory networks guide cell fate decisions during brain and retinal organoid development.
❗Next speaker: Joergen Kornfeld (MRC LMB)❗ Joergen will discuss how synaptic-resolution connectomics is transforming neuroscience, from whole-brain fly connectomes to vertebrate systems, and examine the challenges of reconstructing and interpreting large-scale neural circuits
Our next speaker is CRUK CI's Sir Steve Jackson! Steve will discuss the mechanisms by which cells detect, signal and repair DNA damage, and how advances in understanding DNA repair pathways have informed the development of new therapeutic approaches for cancer and age-related disease.

We’re excited to hear from Alex Johnson of the University of Exeter! 🎉 Alex investigates clathrin-mediated endocytosis in plants and algae, highlighting how photosynthetic organisms sense and respond to their environment through mechanisms that differ from those in mammalian or yeast systems.
🗣️ Next up: Stephan Gruber from the University of Lausanne! He will describe how the Wadjet SMC complex repurposes DNA loop extrusion machinery to detect and cleave foreign circular DNA, revealing a mechanism by which chromosome-organising systems can function in bacterial and archaeal immunity.
We can't wait to hear from Shannan Foylan! Shannan will discuss the nanoscale organisation and membrane dynamics of GLUT4 in adipocytes and cardiomyocytes, using super-resolution and expansion microscopy to investigate how insulin regulates GLUT4 distribution and mobility in metabolic tissues.
Our next speaker is EPFL's Giovanni D'Angelo! He will present a micrometric-scale lipid atlas of the adult mouse brain, revealing spatial lipid organisation linked to functional anatomy, cell-type heterogeneity and physiological adaptation, including changes associated with pregnancy.
💥Our next speaker is Nicholas Dale from the University of Warwick! 💥 Nicholas will discuss how connexin hemichannels are gated by CO2 via an evolutionarily conserved carbamylation mechanism, and examine the structural, physiological and evolutionary implications of connexin-mediated CO2 signalling
📣Speaker announcement: Morgan Beeby📣 Morgan will tell us about his group's recent work using electron cryo-microscopy to attain subnanometre resolutions of flagellar motors in situ, and the biological insights that this enables.
💫We're thrilled to announce our first speaker: the LMB's own Diana Arseni!💫 Diana's group studies mechanisms of brain health, ageing and disease focusing on the lysosomal protein transmembrane protein 106B (TMEM106B) which forms amyloids in the brain in an age-dependent manner.
