My personal workstation is a neurotic mass of cables with two keyboards and a 4-way kvm switch that would be comfortable appearing in Serial Experiments Lain just to clarify.

The TOS being so strict that they control you offsite is the problem; sites like Patreon and Kofi have offsite clauses too. The social criminalization of the suggestion that somewhere you might be doing nsfw is a problem. It's branding a person as obscene and we need consumers to stand up for us

If you're looking for a journalistic outlet to support, 404 is like $100 a year and it feels like they break multiple huge stories every month that lead to real change in the industry. They're tiny but are punching far above their weight on issues like privacy and data center policy.

I truly feel for kids growing up now who will have to unlearn using AI, but if you've been writing for more than 2 years it is the easiest thing in the world to just Keep Doing The Thing You Did and ignore AI tools!! It makes me feel crazy that people act like this isn't the case!!!

Most tactics rpgs seem to struggle to calibrate the challenge in the last few acts. There's a certain point in Fire Emblem or Unicorn Overlord where you basically can't be stopped if you have a decent understanding of the systems.
One of the most perverse things about the destruction of USAID was how much the program benefitted the US for staggeringly low investments. Farmers got paid and pandemics were stopped before they spread. I'll vote for anyone who runs on dropping the full force of the DOJ on Musk and his goons.

You could make a midwit economic argument for why undercutting grocery stores with public subsidies is bad but I'd rather they try a bunch of shit and have some of it fail because that's how we got social security from the new deal. Trying to address the worse affordability issues directly is good.

There's a video of Andrej Karpathy floating around where he makes the argument that kids should mostly be learning STEM subjects and that kind of techno-fascistic reasoning feels like it's in the same vein as the Vax stuff. Education as something done to the working poor rather than as enrichment.

There has always been a divide between those who care about education for its own sake and those who only care about grades, but AI will worsen this divide, leaving fewer people with the ability to do causal reasoning.
It kind of fucks me up that I learned a bunch of math in engineering school that I never use because of how dominant computation and discrete math has become.
