Great meeting yesterday with the new IAPLL Executive Board! Thank you to all members for their energy and commitment. Excited for what's ahead! 🚀 #IAPLL #PLL7

I was invited to present my methodological journey and my participatory-inspired tool at the @iapll.bsky.social Research Methods SIG today. Attendees shared some of their thoughts about teacher motivation and played with the tool which emerged from a methodological dilemma in previous research. 👌🧑‍🏫

Thank you to @uoncral.bsky.social for introducing me and sharing my research as part of the Centre for Research in Applied Linguistics at our university, the @uniofnottingham.bsky.social 🤩🙂

Introducing our brilliant colleague @lorenasgk.bsky.social! Lorena presented online today for @iapll.bsky.social's Research Methodology SIG on her reflexive approach to data collection in language teacher motivation research - check out her key takeaways below...! #teachermotivation #qualresearch

I am genuinely happy to have attended the #ESLTIS conference today. I wasn't presenting but I participated in their mentorship scheme this year and wanted to meet some colleagues I was paired with. Learnt a lot about students rejecting AI and ways to be more ethical and mindful in the classroom.

Today, I am attending the Enhancing Student Learning Through Innovative Scholarship (ESLTIS) Conference 2026, at The University of Sheffield. This is a conference for education-focussed staff in Higher Education. From the first keynote talk, I could clearly see this would be an amazing day! #ESLTIS

Last day at #PLL6 and I'm not ready for it to be over. Jian-E Peng's keynote on WTC in the AI era was brilliant – so much of it spoke to my speaking and listening module and to the GenAI work I'm doing on language teaching. Sad to say goodbye to Shantou. 💛 #IAPLL @iapll.bsky.social

Yesterday I presented at #PLL6 at Shantou University – "Between Hype and Hesitation: Chinese Pre-Service Teachers' Perceptions of GenAI in ELT." The questions afterwards were the highlight. Now soaking up the rest of the conference and the conversations it's sparking. @iapll.bsky.social

Finally in Shantou, China for #PLL6! 🌏 Opening ceremony done – theme this year is Positive Vis-à-Vis Negative and Beyond. Presenting later today on Chinese pre-service ELT teachers' perceptions of GenAI. Looking forward to the conversations ahead. @iapll.bsky.social @uoncral.bsky.social

2026 is the National Year of Reading! The campaign aims to help people (re)discover the joy of reading by connecting it to their passions. Let's hear from one of our researchers, Lucy Jones! #uoncral #literacy #reading #language #researchcentre #appliedlinguistics #nottinghamuniversity #uon

Let's highlight a CRAL project! @lucyjones.bsky.social carried out a project focused on language and LGBTQIA+ youth, analysing marginalised identities through an intersectional lens. From this came the LGBTQIA+ Youth Manifesto and the language guide. 🏳️‍🌈 #uoncral #language #lgbtq #researchproject

Brilliant to welcome back to University Park campus Emeritus Professor Norbert Schmitt, one of CRAL’s founding members! Here to share with our lucky PGT students his wealth of experience doing and supervising empirical research. #uoncral #language #research #postgraduate #appliedlinguistics #uon

400 jobs at risk. A campus set to close. This film explains what’s happening at the University of Essex and why staff, students and the local community are organising to stop it. 📍 Southend rally | 5 February

My new article is out in Innovation in Language Learning and Teaching 📘✨ I look at how a set of interview prompts helped teachers open up, reflect, and share experiences that often stay hidden in regular interviews. This approach shaped the study in a meaningful way 💛 Link: doi.org/10.1080/1750...

Just finished a TeachingEnglish – British Council webinar with over 900 people from around the world 🌍. We talked about what it really takes to prepare new teachers for real classrooms and came up with some great ideas together. Loved the energy and honesty everyone brought. 😀
