Yesterday I drove to Empire Ranch Road right as the setting sun peeked through from west and illuminated the belly of the storm! I have a handful of shots similar to this but this is my favorite!

Hey friends! I'll be posting my short film "Sudden Drop" tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. It covers my haboob chase on July 13 from the Dragoon Mountains all the way to Nogales, Arizona! I hope you watch this one, I'm super proud of the timelapse footage I captured!

Capturing this shot is peak storm photography for me as I can't believe I watched a monster haboob clobbering the Mustang Mountains just north of Elgin, Arizona yesterday. I've never seen a dust storm in this area, and I think I'm going to print this one for the wall.

This is my favorite capture of the season so far as it captures all the elements of the monsoon in one shot. Captured just south of Deming, NM on July 8, I braced for the wall of dust racing towards me hoping to see a bolt of lightning oustide of the brightly visible downburst.

Lightning at White Sands National Park! After waiting in the 100 degree heat for 45 minutes, storms finally built into the Tularosa Basin and boy did they put on a show! I positioned myself still within the park looking towards the Dune Life Nature Trail to get this shot!

How low to the ground have you ever seen a rainbow? This one was playing limbo as it nearly scrapes the ground when I captured this bolt slice through it yesterday in Hatch, New Mexico! I knew the rest of the day was going to be lit when this thing was spitting out bright daytime bolts like crazy!

Bild

During the timelapse, my camera still captured a daytime bolt during this storm that eventually became the most scenic storm of the year as it passed through Amistad and Nara Vista, New Mexico an hour later.

Now here's a photo that I love with all my heart. This is one shot in a timelapse of the Felt, Oklahoma tornado on June 8 taken from the Intersection of Hwy 285 and EW33 Rd just north of the Oklahoma/Texas state line.

This bolt seemed a lot closer and was loud enough to have me scurrying down the road on June 7 south of Clayton, NM. It has the tellings of a positively charged strike with the clear channel near the bottom. My guess is it is just because of how bright I captured it during the daytime.

Bild

The most beautiful storm I've ever witnessed shot across the northern New Mexico countryside on June 7, and it seemed to follow me even though I was the storm chaser. I marveled in a nearly hypnotic state mesmerized by the storm’s raw power, intricate dynamics, and haunting beauty.

Bild

This is one of several hundred images captured from the tornado warned storm that eventually became the Amistad mothership at sunset! Several others showed up and we all stood in awe as the spin just got better and better. The timelapses will have to wait.

Bild

I've got some good news happening that I can't wait to share! I'll reveal more when the time is right! Meanwhile enjoy one of my favorite shots from 2023 when I captured this gorgeous rainbow and lightning near sunset just outside of Tombstone, Arizona on July 15!

Bild

I'm pretty sure this is my first bolt of 2025, and since September of last year! This did not come easy. 498 of 500 photos did not include lightning and my bottom is still soggy haha.

Bild

Doggonit! I was aiming in the right place, but the lightning got scared of me and decided to land a few miles off frame in the OTHER direction! Captured at 3:58 p.m. in Rio Rico, AZ.

Bild

I'll never forget the incredible feeling of watching a haboob (dust storm) roll off the top and into the deep chasm of the Grand Canyon on July 21, 2021. The blast of air and barrage of lightning that finally hit us caused hundreds of sightseers to flee back towards their vehicle.

Monsoon 2025 outlook: The latest seasonal outlook for the southwestern U.S. puts Arizona right in the middle of above average rainfall chances.I'm hopeful at the prospect of capturing the best imagery I can capture. Arizona sunset storms offer the prettiest skies I've ever witnessed.

There's an area southeast of Tucson, Arizona known as the San Rafael Valley. The small towns of Sonoita, Patagonia, Elgin and Harshaw are the only sign of civilization. The valley reminds you of the high plains of western Oklahoma. It's one of my favorite places to shoot storms.
