I think all the UK wanted was a charasmatic, moderate leader
Infantino should only get to keep his job if he can do 100 keepie-uppies in a row
airbnb I’m staying at unintentionally created the toughest punk album cover of 2027
Not sure if I agree with Janan Ganesh. Surely the Your Party debacle, along with Green Party travails, shows the factions left is alive & well & living in Islington
You can hear the voices ring down the centuries: "Get off those effing tiles!"
A #Roman tile marked with a child's footprints - they have really sunk their toes into the unfired clay here! There are also dog pawprints on the tile - a child & their beloved pet walking together, maybe, some 1700+ years ago... #AncientBlueSky #Archaeology
Starmer was Head Boy (teachers' choice). Burnham is Deputy Head Boy
Early release... My pal is in prison for a short period (couple of months). He is Cat C, but in a Victorian Cat B prison in the sweltering heat. There has been an outbreak of scabies. He will be homeless on release, as no one will take him as he is a pain in the arse, but not dangerous.
In the 1970s we learned binary so we would "know how to use computers"
I was a tech-savvy teen - my dad was a PC hobbyist who had us building servers and LANs from the age of 12 - and my GCSE classes in ICT (the term IT hadn't been adopted yet!) were hilariously outdated. In 2002, our textbooks still said "one day, five million people will be using electronic mail".
Horrific stuff. More recent, local examples of the authorities intervening in barbarbaric ways include the UK prison service forcefeeding sufragette hungerstrikers & more recently, republican sisters Dolours & Marian Price in the 70s.
It’s the 133rd anniversary of William Taylor’s execution at Auburn Prison, after he’d killed a fellow inmate specifically in order to get the death penalty because he was sick of being inside, not realising (because why would you?) that he would end up being given the chair twice in one day 🧵
Reminds me of the old joke - What’s pink and hard in the morning? The Financial Times crossword of course
Tony Hart is still going strong, I hear
Just watching an episode of Hart Beat, Tony Hart’s 80s art programme for children. It’s very good. Surprised that they used Relax by Frankie Goes To Hollywood as the background music ( no vocals…) for an item but it was the 80s. Have a gander: www.youtube.com/watch?v=16G6...
A civil war impending? So be it. We easily outnumber those gormless, wheezing fucks.
Years ago I was flying back from Amsterdam absolutely off my tits. At passport control a very tall Ayran looking official slapped me on the back & said: "We haff a leedle problem" Turns out I hadn't signed my passport & he made me sign it there & then. Signature was very wobbly
Pride festival in Newcastle today. Good luck to the lads-only-three-in-a-bed-stag-nighters who chose to jeer at the "poofs". You're not kidding anyone lads
