Question about BDS coverage just for my own knowledge: does it apply to things published before the boycott began? Like, could I talk about the original Oblivion since it was published before Bethesda got bought or nah?

As someone who really enjoyed Stellar Blade (I will perish on the hill that it's not gooner slop), the AI video with the next game's protag is genuinely heartbreaking

I haven't written anything in a while because I've been learning to edit videos and thinking hard about my creative ideas that I wanna take on over the year. Very refreshing to try something new for a change and approach things months in advance with way more patience and dedication than normal :)

I think the thing that bothers me so much about my writing (especially when reading other people's works -- you guys are really fucking good at this) is that I feel like I haven't lived enough or done anything to draw on and use as focal points in my work.

I, as always, appreciate Stop Caring's inclusion in these roundups. I have shared this achievement with the contributor and I'd like to share their words: "goddamnit...first Critical Distance appearance and it's a piece I can't take credit for. Thank you so much! It's an honor." (paraphrased)

Critical Distance | Where’s all the good writing about games?@critdistance.bsky.social · 2w ago

This week: Let's get historical, from past to present to future: critical-distance.com/2026/07/19/j...

I've reached the annual point of needing to take a break from video games right when I start thinking about taking video games (writing) more seriously 🫠

There's a special kind of pain when you get stuck on a level in an indie game, go to find a walkthrough, and realize that any documented footage of the game completely ignores the fact that there's two paths in every level
