I can live with most of the new Gaang voices, and hope they’ll improve w/ practice (except Yuen who already has the chops). But Eric Nam as Aang is such an atrocious miscast. His monotonous pretty boy whisper he uses for the entire film doesn’t fit Aang’s tremendous energy.
Take the words “narcissist” and “sociopath” away from the ATLA fandom. They don’t know what they mean and refuse to learn. It’s just become shorthand for “flawed character I don’t like and want to paint as inflexibly evil” rather than the complex personality disorders they are.

Nolan’s Odyssey is reactionary BS and bears no resemblance to Wilson’s translation. While her translation can be dry and simplified, she still is an academic who is deeply passionate about the source material. Nolan’s disdain for and incuriosity about the text is blatant.

The Odyssey’s (2026) appropriative misrepresentation of the Greek concept of “Xenia” and Nolan filming on occupied land even after being asked not to would’ve gotten any other filmmaker pilloried. Nolan gets to play by different rules, apparently.

If Nolan wanted to make a gritty allegory for modern social disruption and WWII PTSD, he should’ve used THE ILIAD. Achilles is the protagonist who ends up with regrets for chasing glory. Butchering the Odyssey to make it fit disparate themes and intentions just ruins it.

Who would even name a band The Who? That’s not a name! Imagine someone asks “who’s on first?” and gets the reply “The Who”, and somehow they don’t understand they mean the band? Completely unbelievable! Would never work.
Watching people tie themselves into knots pretending the “Nobody” joke doesn’t work in English, as if Who’s on First isn’t one of the most replicated bits in comedy.
