Thing we're going to have to reckon with: LLMs bring massive productivity gains in software, and if you're a solo dev, the gains can potentially redound directly back onto you, whereas if you're salaried and working for someone else, the gains simply turn into the new baseline expectation.
Hardly a revelatory insight but Nowadays™️ you really can just do things. Have always disliked both Google Slides and the Markdown-based JS-y slide things I’ve encountered so today I just made one in about 20 minutes. And it’s spot on for my needs and I look forward to creating slides now.

Arguably the most important muscle to develop working in software in the age of LLMs is the "naw, we probably shouldn't" muscle. And it's really hard to do when code is ~free.

The "block first, ask questions later" nature of this website is annoying sometimes. Makes you never want to have a good-faith discussion with strangers.
Here is a simple trick for evaluating takes, or honing your own, that I've been meaning to formalize: try replacing "AI" or "datacenter" with "computer" (or "software") and see how it sounds. Does it still hold up, our does it sound wrong or too broad to be coherent?
