" no one does. i didn't come here to die, either. " they shrug with s chuckle, like they're discussing no more than the weather outside. maybe it's a starry night, warm. it's always starry, at the very least. +
no visible confirmation of her theories ... but no real denial either. she listens intently 'really...' libe observes their gesture , her own hands falling back to her sides as they walk. ignorance was easy to use, that was true, but something about this wasn't right- unfortunately, -
" they would rather not discuss it, if they can help it. they believe that if we don't know much about it, then the chances of turning against them are lower. " again they gesticulate with their hand, twirling it above shoulder level so libe +
she'll have to ask them later, libe makes a mental note of it. ' i'm sure they've spent their time convincing other humans of our er, "wickedness" ' she exaggerates the word, hands gesturing claws . she percieves no mockery, they needn't worry . however, eotvos' behaviour seemed to distract her
she didn't ask now, did she ? conversation is as much of a game of pull as it is push — if there are answers she needs, she will have to come find them. eotvos, for their part, merely continues walking ahead. +
yet she hears nothing of their name . at first this causes a bit of confusion . but it made sense, she supposed, they might've assumed she knew already . it was hard not to , advertisements for this grand show of aliens' upper hand were plastered everywhere . but libe's eyes don't often linger on
head tilts gently to the side as they familiarize themself with the presence before them. an unfamiliar name, but not a name that sounds foreign. aliens have their own naming conventions, and tnag translates in how they name their pets. +
and even then, petty theft was only one part of the larger plan. it's best for libe to think of one thing at a time, though. for now, she's just glad to be trusted that much. her gaze lingers on the gesture, watching their gloves crinkle under the pressure of the handshake.
that would be because they ARE *. being left to your own devices more often than not often would mean that they were free to explore — so long as they were not seen as they did. that could spell trouble. trouble that they would not want to invite for no reason. +
eotvos had so far, given libe the impression of someone who was ‘ in the know ‘— but the reason why it almost felt like they were playing a game, she avoided to think about . still, there was an underlying positive — they’re human ; a rest from the sight of those beings .
they're quiet as they watch, take note of reactions, sounds, actions. she's not like them, doesn't seem to have been raised to entertain, either... she wears emotion on her sleeve in a way that someone raised in anakt would not. +
( … for the best . ) as eotvos speaks, libe throws a glance at the source of the ruckus — face briefly scrunching up in what could probably be read as stern disgust . her head doesn’t move much . her focus shifts, and she aknowledges their sentence with a nod .
" no, they're all here still. " it's not a lie, but the way they say it almost makes it seem like it is. it's almost playfully said, in a way, with a levity in their tone more often reserved for mere jests. but alas, the musing from the other room is proof enough. +
with a slight tilt of the head, she shoots the other a more clearly questioning look . were cryptic answers all she was going to get? she didn’t feel particularly frustrated with that information, somehow . that wasn’t quite what she meant to ask . “ i didn’t * hear you walk , “
a low hum rumbles in their throat, pondering their next words. yes, it was quite far... but it has also been a bit since they crossed gazes. maybe libe has no concept of time. their left wrist rises, and they pull a sleeve back with their right hand to check a watch. +
what they said was true, the possible questions were many, and because of that, there were about a hundred different trains of thought running around libe's mind. her mind briefly went to the reason for her visit, but given the quiet, maybe they did have some time.
smile remains ever friendly, arms folded behind their back as they await her further explanation. they have time, or so it seems that they do. eotvos doesn't seem to notice any movement around them, so there is nothing that might urge them to act any faster. +
she placed her right hand- the one on the side of the holster- on the wall beside her for support. without her expression fully losing softness, libe's eyes narrow a bit at the end of the stranger's sentence, this discrepancy between their attitude and the situation goes anywhere but unnoticed.
orange eyes follow the jerky movement of her hand, but the smile doesn't fade even when they take notice of what she reached for. a gun, it's not unfamiliar, they have seen them plenty even when not pointed directly at them. turns out that exposure gets you used to a lot of things. +
she only let out the start of a broken screech, suppressed midway through the first second, her heart caught in her throat. she quickly moved forward to put some distance between herself and the stranger and turned around. restless, her gloved hand went to grab the handgun from her belt, and-
now... all they have to do is wait for the perfect opportunity. as time goes on, their gaze scans the room time and time again — notice just how the aliens react as the time goes on, as they seem to forget the performer on stage the more preoccupied with eating and drinking they get. +
quiet- this area of the building was only steps away from that insanity, yet it was that much quieter and calmer. as she went on and the music became once again distant, all libe could hear were her own footsteps as she searched the corridors for the right room.
aortic idk maybe i finally should have some shame and make a ref for vos
the lights on the stage are blinding as they usually are, but they no longer squint, don't attempt to wipe the sweat that beads at their brow... don't bother smiling beyond what's expected from someone charming an audience. it's all mechanical, practiced, milimetricaly planned to perfection. +
_ libe's clothes rustled as she navigated the building, quietly following the distant music as it slowly became less so... eventually, she was able to find it, the room where those things were gathered. . . ! it hadn't been the easiest getting in, but the large doors offered quite the advantage.

( conducting business. . . what kind of business. . . 💭 * )
@luctificus.bsky.social We've not interacted much, but I've found out few exchanges pleasant. Do let me know if you'd ever be interested in conducting business.
mhm, i don't think there's anywhere quite the library that has the big orange tree. ( and they chuckle softly, vaguely amused. it feels almost nonsensical, and yet. . . )
ㅤ they're good, aren't they? all of the oranges are. very few fall bruised or tainted, even fewer with concerning spores. it's a very giving tree. "i see. if you ever have a taste for them, you'll always know where to find more...!" she muses with hopeful humor. ㅤ
thank you, im sure that i will enjoy myself. . . there is a lot to learn, a lot to find, even. im sure that i will not be bored anytime soon.
ㅤ "i see," she smiles, looking at her path ahead. scherie glances back and, quietly, "i hope you enjoy." ㅤ
( they nod, carefully popping the fruit into its mouth. it's sweet. . . how delightful. ) it's not an acquired taste, not at all, i just haven't had the chance to eat much.
ㅤ scherie shakes her head, holding up the remaining orange in palm: please, eat your fill. she insists. "of course. it's natural that our tastes change over time." ㅤ
