Nothing bad can happen, it can only good happen. Writer/broadcaster/host been on the case of this beautiful planet (nature and climate beat) since 2000.
Always interesting to read about which nuclear sites are offline and on high alert (sizewell b due to wildfire). When I researched renewables in places like Grenoble where the region went for community solar in a big way a driver for citizens was nuclear being offline so often.

Bordeaux, France, has now recorded more days above 40°C in 2026 alone than during the entire 105-year period from 1920 (when observations began) to 2025. This is deeply shocking.
"Sinking in Polls, Farage Plans Week of Attacks on Immigration" Reform plan to make next week Immigration Week It could finally be the moment for broadcast media to notice the > 75% drop in net migration since 2024. There is also a 42% drop in boat crossings
It needs to be said, the telegraph has fought so hard and consistently and bravely to stabilise and reduce emissions, and now regretfully they have lost the war and have decided to throw in the towel. Not all Heroes wear capes.
This is bound to provoke anger from Kemi Badenoch as homegrown UK fires fail to respect common sense approach to climate disaster (which involves burning more oil and gas).
Kemi Badenoch wants common sense wildfires that respect oil and gas assets, not all this mad net zero stuff.
Interesting how even the telegraph are letting Badenoch carry the can for this position. It’s her that looks crazy and not them. She’s a human shield. Some of their readers are older farmers/land owners who will be reading this while contemplating ruined crops and drought ravaged acreages
Meanwhile, look at the extreme discordance and dissonance of stories on this news page in the same edition...
Siri, show me someone whose retirement portfolio is entirely invested in stranded gas and oil assets.
I’m really starting to think there’s something going on here. Sorry Richard (Tice) I know you said that you were being harassed by reporters when you’d already fully explained that they’re just simple successful aristocrats etc but….I dunno, I just….wonder
Of course he bloody did. Fiona Cottrell isn't rich. Yes, she's posh, but she's not hundred-millions rich. And nor, for that matter is George. Whose money is it?
Oooh hello individual action and responsibility is making a comeback?
When I discuss huge systemic issues, people say "but what I can I do?" When I mention something meaningful you can do immediately, people say (as the replies here show) "but what's the point, in the face of the huge systemic issues?" There are, it seems, plenty of people who want to be helpless.

I’d like to thank the London Fire Brigade, who responded to more than 1,300 incidents over the weekend. Every preventable fire puts lives, homes and wildlife at risk. Please help keep London safe.

Again. Many gentlemen of the left think survivors are over indulged or besides the point. Their instincts are always with men. It’s rotten.

Fleeing for their lives because we are burning fossil fuels. Climate chaos is coming home. Shame on every news orgs now running live reports on wild fires right now simultaneously shit-stirring on net zero and climate action. #itsComingHomeWILDFIRES
Please read the whole piece. It’s incredibly insightful.
3/ Excerpts from the piece follow, but we urge you to read the piece in full. It’s an indictment of British institutional failure – and an audit of the many unanswered questions that remain about Farage, about Brexit – and about how our political system is funded.
Will this wobble burnham’s ‘drill baby drill’ decision on North Sea oil? Are thesvoters sufficiently joining the dots between climate breakdown (heatwaves, wildfires and flooding) and the need to lock in fossil fuels to add pressure?
The UK's record heatwaves have made a chunk of voters more worried about climate change and impatient for help from the government Public First polling for Politico found - 36% now more supportive of renewables - over 40% now more concerned about climate www.politico.eu/article/heat...
In common with many I’ve felt hugely relieved that Murdoch has finally decided to expose Farage for what he is. The Times’ impressive reporting power has finally been unleashed. but as @carolecadwalla.bsky.social reminds me here before breakthrough in uk journalism comes failure. Read every word…
2/ This essential read lays out the story of how Carole has been tracking Nigel Farage since Brexit, how our institutions – including the media – went missing in action, and how being personally sued seemed to have a chilling effect on further scrutiny www.thenerve.news/p/nigel-fara...

Rachel Maddow’s description of Juan Sebastian Guerrero killed by ICE in Maine is a must see. She explains what happened w/out being graphic, and somehow that makes it even more powerful. Remember Alex, Pretti, and Renée? There have been no prosecutions. Still no justice. We know how this goes.

What everyone needs to be aware of is that such heatwaves are now locked-in And - given we are still pumping out 41 billion tonnes of CO2 a year - they will get much worse Whatever we do, the planet's temperature will stay elevated for many thousands of years www.theguardian.com/environment/...
