In Mario & Luigi: Brothership, it is revealed that the expansion pack game for Super Mario Bros. (NES) titled “Super Mario Bros. + Revenge of the Koopas Expansion Pak”, which contains additional content for Super Mario Bros., is canon, mentioning the final boss by name.
