My latest, Procedural Political Economy, is up. It’s an effort to marry the civil procedure and LPE literatures. Check it out!
Procedural Political Economy
When the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure came into being in 1938, a broad political economy discourse was driving significant legal and policy reform efforts.

🚨🔥🚨 So excited to be working on launching the new LPE Association! Please save the new date for the conference here in Richmond & follow us at @a-lpe.bsky.social!
LPE friends - CONFERENCE UPDATE!! ⏰☎️ Planning is still underway for the first annual LPE conference, launching a new LPE Association, but we're pushing the dates to FEBRUARY 5-7, 2026. It was such a pleasure to host the 10th(!) annual Civil Procedure Workshop here at Richmond! Such great papers and discussions & so delightful to have a great cohort of fellows and junior scholars in the midst sharing their work!
Richmond Law was proud to host the 10th Annual Civil Procedure Workshop this week! Civil procedure scholars gathered for two days of rich discussion and connection. Huge thanks to Dean Wendy Perdue, @profk.bsky.social, @lukenorris.bsky.social, and all who joined! flic.kr/s/aHBqjCgTwh
Having had the pleasure of reading many iterations of this book, I can attest that it’s fabulous! @athenais.bsky.social illuminates many ways the law treats those at the high- and low-end of the wealth spectrum differently and, in doing so, teaches us new things abt the architecture of inequality.
It feels weird, but I'm excited to say I just submitted all the chapters of my forthcoming book for first edits 🤩. It's about family money, wealth management, and poverty governance (surprise!). It's about systems of extraction and generational wealth. It's about laws, geographies, and narratives.
As always, insightful and interesting work by the one and only @marissaesque.bsky.social!
Building on the astute analyses by @karenattiah.bsky.social and @adamserwer.bsky.social in my debut post for the @lpeblog.bsky.social on the Trump Administration’s assault on Black federal workers today, which calls upon us to consider that peonage may be the point: lpeproject.org/blog/racial-...

🚨🚨 Check out my fantastic colleague @athenais.bsky.social with a nuanced post on what universities can (and can’t) do with their endowments in this moment!
We are going to need to re-think university funding so very soon and understanding what endowments can and can't do is a helpful place to start. Happily, here is some on-point morning reading, brought to you by me and @lpeblog.bsky.social @lpeproject.bsky.social lpeproject.org/blog/how-to-...
