For over 60 years, the bipartisan Voting Rights Act has protected the fundamental right of every American citizen to vote.

Amid unlawful efforts by President Trump to undermine the integrity of our elections, repeal voting by mail (except for him), and restrict voting rights, a misguided Supreme Court majority has now attacked our landmark civil rights and voting rights law.

We must not allow the right to vote to be taken away from anyone in this country, and we must continue to fight for the passage of the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act – to restore and protect the right to vote.

As a direct result of the resolution filed by our Committee, @OversightDems, to hold her in contempt of Congress, former Attorney General Pam Bondi has finally agreed to comply with our subpoena to testify in our Committee’s Epstein investigation under oath.

I look forward to questioning Ms. Bondi on May 29th about her efforts to withhold thousands of pieces of evidence connecting President Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell and other obstructions, as well as the full extent of her knowledge of crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein and his co-conspirators – including information contained in the more than 2.5 million files that the Trump Department of Justice is unlawfully withholding from Congress.

I strongly support H.R. 8275 – a bill to establish a bipartisan commission, made up of former Presidents and other retired Executive Branch officials, physicians, and psychiatrists, to assess presidential fitness and ensure that the President is fully and faithfully capable of discharging the powers and duties of the office.

Former Attorney General Pam Bondi flatly refused to testify before our Oversight Committee today regarding her deliberate efforts to withhold evidence, coddle Ghislaine Maxwell, and block the Epstein investigation.

Her refusal to testify comes in the face of a duly authorized subpoena supported by both Democrats and Republicans.

The hundreds of underage victims of Jeffrey Epstein deserve justice, and I am calling upon my Republican colleagues in Congress to hold the abusers accountable and to compel those powerful figures who would obstruct justice in this case. Congress should immediately hold Ms. Bondi in contempt of Congress.

President Trump just submitted a budget to Congress that again proposes the outright elimination of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

Last year, LIHEAP provided vital financial assistance to nearly 160,000 working families in Massachusetts for heating and cooling bills and home improvements that will reduce their household energy consumption and costs.

With working families in the 8th Congressional District and throughout the state facing energy bills that have doubled and even tripled over the last year, I am calling on the House Appropriations Committee to reject the Trump budget and fund LIHEAP at the highest possible level for the upcoming year.

During today’s House session, the Republican leadership blocked our demand for an immediate vote on a War Powers Resolution to force President Trump to come to Congress to obtain authorization for the continued use of military force against Iran.

With the President now spewing profanities and threatening attacks against the civilian population while vowing to end a “whole civilization,” he appears unhinged.

Meanwhile, the Strait of Hormuz remains blocked, gas prices are at $4.00, and Trump’s so-called ceasefire seems to be falling apart.

I will continue to push back against the insanity and end this reckless and misguided war of choice that is placing the safety of American service members at great risk.

After casting a mail-in ballot himself last week, President Trump continues to propagate disinformation and flat-out lies about election fraud in a shameless attempt to restrict the constitutional right to vote of every American.

His executive order to disenfranchise American voters through federal control of elections is patently unlawful, and we will fight it in court – where state and federal judges nationwide have already dismissed, over lack of evidence, more than 60 cases brought by President Trump and his associates to challenge the integrity of American elections.

We finally received a classified briefing on the situation in Iran from Secretary Rubio, Secretary Hegseth, Joint Chiefs Chairman Caine, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe - one that failed to articulate an actual justification for an undefined military operation that continues to place American service members at risk.

With President Trump still refusing to rule out American boots on the ground, I will firmly vote yes on H. Con. Res. 38, which requires Congress to authorize any U.S. military force against Iran.

My deepest sympathy and respect to the families of the three brave U.S. service members killed in action during ongoing military operations against Iran.

I also wish the dedicated service members who have been wounded in action a speedy and full recovery.

The safety and security of our sons and daughters in uniform remains my highest priority and I will continue to demand that Congress exercise its constitutional authority to conduct oversight of military action and provide maximum protection for American service members deployed in the region.
