Now in color. I just kinda went with "colored like a pigeon shaped like a seagull" except for the mostly-gull-colored beak and lack of webbed toes, since his feet seem to be described more like a pigeon's.

If there's one thing I suggest junior artists practice for animation work, it's observation skills. Volumes, perspective, proportions, negative space. That's what I'm frequently noting up to get things on model. The relationships between shapes is priority with draftsmanship.
