If Arsenal thought the summer market was unreasonably priced, just wait until the January market opens. If there’s even a sniff of an injury issue at Arsenal, you can load the brick price by 50%

I’m absolutely convinced the pursuits of Vinicius & Alverez have negatively impacted our ability to strengthen in attack. Players & agents won’t sit around and wait for us indefinitely. It feels like we’ve allowed the market to move away from us.

They’ll be case studies conducted on the transfer windows of the last 2 champions. Liverpool went and signed all the players Arsenal needed. Arsenal went and signed all the players Liverpool needed.

Cackpoo going for £85m & we are struggling to get a packet of peanuts of Martinelli. Theres markets within markets in this transfer window.

🚨 EXCLUSIVE: Cody Gakpo decides to join Manchester City & parties now working to reach agreement. 27yo faced 3-way choice after #LFC signed Bradley Barcola; stay or Tottenham Hotspur also options. Dutch int’l chose #MCFC + talks advancing 🚨 @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/748...

Kevin Schade is a very good player who will definitely improve the squad but I’ve got serious question marks about our transfer strategy this summer. Schade would be about 4th choice. We have a history of wasting time chasing scrubs

Really feel Arsenal want to make a statement signing & we are now trying to force it via “market opportunities” Both Vinicius & Alverez were/are reactive market opportunities. When we sign players, I want to romanticise about their desire to play for Arsenal. Theres zero romance in those deals 🚮

Thought Carragher was spot on earlier. When the reigning champions spend £450m in one window, only to regress in every single department, leaving countless issues that could take multiple seasons (& millions to fix) That absolutely qualifies as one of the worst transfer windows of all time.

It’s a shame Martinelli hasn’t been able to kick-on. Great lad, great pro, but as the levels, quality (& expectations) of the team has risen around him, he just hasn’t been quite able to rise with it. But that’s ok, it happens. Wish him all the best

If Atletico won’t sell Alvarez to Barcelona, we should do it for them. We don’t own a network of clubs like Chelsea & City so we need to be smarter with transfers. Buy Alvarez, stick a reasonable “Barcelona only” buyout clause in his contract & move on

This Liverpool defence is gonna be a massive problem for them as the season progresses Kerkez: Crap VVD: 54 years old Jacquet: Scrub Araujo: Scrub Pimpong: Pound 4 pound their worst signings Tsimikas: Lolz Bradley: ACL dead Leoni: ACL dead Good luck navigating the CL with that

I like Minteh but this highlights the massive lack of talent available on the market. Every club needs to be looking internally to get more out of their “star” players who underperformed last year. The list of said players is very (very) long.

🚨 Liverpool made offer in recent days to sign Yankuba Minteh from Brighton & Hove Albion. 22yo #BHAFC winger currently injured but among #LFC options to bolster in wide attacking areas; bid for Gambia international worth £50m turned down 🚨 @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/752...

I get it, there’s not that one clear superstar available on the market that gets us over the CL line (like Haaland going City) So we go a different route & build greater squad depth to help keep our best players fresh. I can rationalise the strategy. But fucking Konsa 😩😩

David Ornstein@david-ornstein.bsky.social · 2w ago

🚨 Arsenal reach agreement with Aston Villa to sign Ezri Konsa. Deal for 28yo defender £51m + add-ons. Said goodbyes to #AVFC team-mates & staff today. Set to take #AFC medical Thursday 🚨 W/ @jacobtanswell.bsky.social @gunnerblog.bsky.social @theathleticfc.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/athletic/745...
