Went to watch the granddaughter play football this afternoon. Between where we left the car and the ground this Clouded Yellow flew over the hedge and landed on a few remaining flowers. Made my day.

Grateful to my grandson for spotting this striking buff-tip caterpillar today. #nottswildlife #caterpillars
A walk in the country park today. Not many insects about. Found this Rhopalid beetle on Tansy. Think it's Stictopleurus punctatonervosus. #nottswildlife #rhopalids #ukbugs
In Norwich for a few days. Sat under a birch tree in the Strangers Hall garden. Lots of tiny Birch Catkin bugs dropping on us. This one was on my leg. #ukbugs #invertebrates

Only seen two Lesser Stag Beetles before,so I was not expecting to have one walk across the garden path today. #nottswildlife #ukbugs #Beetles
Been trying to photograph this wasp for a few days. It's been burrowing in a plant pot outside the back door. Irecord says it's Gorytes laticinctus which is unusual this far north, but had it in the garden same time last year. #ukbugs #solitarywasps #nottswildlife
A couple of interesting hoverflies in the garden today. A Hornet Hoverfly and a Xanthogramma species (possibly pedissequum). #nottswildlife #hoverflies #insects
Went for a very hot walk in Cloud wood, Leics. Lots of Silver-washed fritillaries. Found my first tortoise bug and a large variable longhorn beetle. #bugs #beetles #invertebrates
Some other insects from my saunter around Wilford Clay Pits today: Banded General, a Flee Beetle (Neocrepidodera sp) and I think Pale-collared Carver (but not a great picture) #nottswildlife #sawflies #soldierflies #insects
This solitary wasp appears to be Astata boops. Seen at Wilford Clay Pits today. It looks like only the second record for Notts. #nottswildlife #wasps #insects
Dwarf Cream Wave from the garden this morning followed by a Leopard moth from, would you believe, the chip shop wall this afternoon. #Nottswildlife #teammoth
Checking on the orchids at Wilford claypits today. Came across Clasterotomus norwegicus, Stratiomys potamida and Physocephala rufipes. #NottsWildlife #insects #soldierflies #flies
Went to look for Purple Emperors in Cotgrave forest today. Might have been a little early but managed Chrysotoxum bicinctum the Spearhorn hoverfly and Tenthredo mesolema sawfly. #Nottswildlife #insects #sawflies #hoverflies
Three different insects on Oxeye daisies in the garden yesterday. Davies' Colletes (smallest of the Colletes bees), Thick-legged hoverfly (Syritta pipiens) and an Oulema sp beetle. #NottsWildlife #insects #bees #hoverflies #beetles
Two species of wasp in the garden today. Pseudomalus auratus (cuckoo wasp) and Auplopus carbonarius (spider wasp). #nottswildlife #wasps #insects #invertebrates
Can't say I'd heard of the Welsh Chafer until one landed on my wife's cardigan today. Also spotted this Deraeocoris flavilinea on Oxeye daisy. #nottswildlife #invertebrates #insects
Disturbed this Heart and Club moth whilst digging out brambles on work party today. #mothsmatter #nottswildlife
A green speck moving across the reserve car park turned out to be Cytilus sericeus. Tiny and shiny. Difficult to get a sharp picture. #nottswildlife #invertebrates #insects
Ground beetle and Capsid bug found in the garden today. I think they are probably Calathus fuscipes and Closteerotomus Norwegians. #nottswildlife #insects #invertebrates
Two plants spotted on Ingleton waterfalls trail yesterday. Heath Bedstraw and Heath Speedwell. #wildflowerhour
