HELLCAT starts as a tense, claustrophobic survival thriller, trapping you inside a camper as horrors unfold largely off screen. Then the second half flips the script, going completely insane with twists. Unsettling, unpredictable and with a powerful final sequence

Think zombie apocalypse, but swap the zombies for dinosaurs and give the characters some seriously questionable decision making skills. As a family focused survival thriller, it kept me engaged, but lacked the dread and that plot was shaky. Oh and that kid was the dumbest!

Pools: A dreamy coming of age story about a girl struggling at school and grieving her father, during a pool hopping night with friends. Beautifully shot heartfelt ode to the summers of youth, carried by Odessa A'zion. It slows in the second half, but the payoff really lands.

California Schemin': This was fun to watch….two down on their luck Scottish rappers, adopt American personas. The fame and adulation works differently for both. Based on a true story…definitely one to check out. Don’t become the dude that plays the dude that plays another dude ✌🏾

Saccharine: After trying a bizarre weight loss craze involving human ashes, a medical student is haunted by the ghost of the person she's consuming. A disturbing, thought provoking take on body image and eating disorders, building to a bleak ending which leaves you with plenty to ponder. Liked this

Hold the Fort: After moving to the suburbs, a young couple finds themselves battling monsters from hell. Silly, slapstick, and in your face cheesy, it's packed with gory fun, kamikaze bats, kung fu spirits, zombies, and plenty of fun moments. An enjoyable horror comedy

Forbidden Fruits: It starts off feeling cliché, but soon shifts into an absurd horror comedy mixing Mean Girls, The Craft and Heathers. The sharp dialogue and wild horror are fun, but imo it's ultimately too paint by numbers, lacking the depth and bite of its inspirations

Evil Dead Burn: Brutal, relentlessly violent and good blood soaked gory fun! Great to talk to stars Souhelia Yacoub and Hunter Doohan and director Sébastien Vaniček #EvilDeadBurn

Dead Lover: A quirky, low budget Frankenstein riff that's delightfully weird. Poetic dialogue and improv heavy, the theatrical style won't be for everyone, but its creativity, charm, horror, dark comedy, and surprisingly heartfelt storyline made it a memorable viewing experience!

Lowlifes: A family road trip in an RV takes a deadly turn after picking up two strangers. Questionable decisions lead to blood being spilled and bodies piling up. Bloody, gory, twisted, and packed with surprises, this Tubi Original is a fun ride. I'd happily watch a sequel

Carolina Caroline: Dinner in America's steamier, less quirky cousin. Kyle Gallner is charming as a con man, while Samara Weaving shines as his partner on the run. Mellow intensity and frantic thrills, mixing Bonnie & Clyde and True Romance into a wildly enjoyable cocktail! 🙌🏾

Exit 8: Delivers a decent message with some genuinely harrowing moments. It could've gone a bit gnarlier, but it's unsettling enough to make you question life and contemplate your next move. A reflective walk afterwards is highly recommended✌🏾

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma is a beautiful, campy and sensual watch. It brilliantly satirises and strips down the slasher genre while exploring coming of age themes and queer identity. The kills are gloriously gory, and Jane Schoenbrun delivers another absorbing story!

En route to SXSW London for one hell of a double bill tonight! Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasa followed by Leviticus

The Plague took me back to being 7, surrounded by kids repeatedly chanting "paki" in my face at break time. It felt like that same relentless thud of bullying. Bullies are scum, "boys will be boys" is nonsense, and you either find a way through or you don't. This film captures it all.

Passenger: Strong start but gets hampered in establishing lore and characters that aren’t compelling enough to care for. With some effective scares and a truly chilling villain, there’s a solid film buried here, but it loses 'drive' after the first act and struggles thereafter

The Secret Agent: A gripping, bizarre political thriller set in 1977 Brazil. Kleber Mendonça Filho blends tension, dark humour and grindhouse chaos into a visually stunning, ambitious film with an outstanding score. It starts slow and once you get on it's wavelength, it builds to a fantastic finale

Rewatching True Romance because it's a gem of a movie and easily one of the best films 🙌🏾

Enjoyed Heresy. Creepy, eerie folk horror steeped in dread, with gorgeous cinematography and a great creature design. At just over an hour it skips the slow burn and ramps up the unease, following a young woman fleeing religious oppression for the dark forces in the woods. Go check it out on Shudder

Top tier dadcore. A new sheriff arrives in a small town where something feels deeply off and Bob Odenkirk shines as the reluctant hero. Don't worry about the plot, just sit back and enjoy the action, the deadpan comedy and the savage kills

The messed up films continue...Funny Games. Minimalist, brutal, and deeply unsettling. Plenty of home invasion films have come since but few feel this raw or psychologically devastating and the 4th wall breaks just taunt you. This with the original Speak No Evil, a crushing double bill.

Cure is a masterpiece of psychological horror. Following a detective investigating a series of murders, it delivers a slow, methodical sense of dread that looks as the darkness beneath everyday life. It lingers in the brain long after the credits roll. (Another first watch btw)

Been an interesting last four watched @letterboxd 🙈

So the "wtf movies" continue...and tonight it was Possession. Man what a visceral attack on the senses in every way. Thought this was absolutely brilliant, equal measure depressing, bleak, yet bold in what it had to say (Another film on the list that I never got round to seeing 🤷🏾)

After last night's messed up film, tonight it was another wild one...Lars Von Trier's Antichrist. Depressing, morbid, creative and powerful. Sometimes you feel nothing so you want to feel something. Dug this a (w)hole lot...pun intended
