Is Bluesky so sad, so bereaved, so utterly devastated by our losses this week that it's gone down?

This is too much, y'all. Losing Dolly was bad enough. Now Tim Curry??? Homophobic of the universe, tbqh.
Multiple things can be true at once, it turns out! We need better road safety for cyclists (and pedestrians), AND a helmet is an easy thing any individual can do to make themselves safer. A helmet won't protect you in EVERY scenario, but it can protect you from some of the worst ones...
Gym milestone: I pushed myself to failure on the bench press and needed *gasp* a stranger’s help.

Every headline about a new food recall turns on the "haha I'm in danger" siren in my brain.
My mom hand carried a bunch of mangos from their tree. They’ll be perfect so soon
In hindsight, millennials should’ve figured we’d gotten old when we collectively decided to switch from liquor to white claw for parties. And also that we actually still had parties, apparently.
i've been seeing this critique a lot and i uh found the film pretty imbued with the threat of sexual violence without ever having to show it explicitly on screen. the women screaming, circe, the end, both scenes at temples of athena, the whole room of suitors as wolves barely restrained.
another Odyssey point: I think the film's own themes would have been reinforced by more emphasis on *sexual* violence committed by the Greeks, which we only really see referenced in the scene with Circe. This is something very hard to do well but which has plenty of classical reference points.
A gastroenterologist told me - during our first appointment - to eat fewer than 1000 calories a day to lose weight to solve my stomach issues
A question from Reddit that I'll answer here: "What's the most unhinged thing a doctor has said to you with a straight face?"
God, fatphobia is so insidious that it's a negative to be loved as "the fat guy from Superbad."
He will never understand that being "the fat guy from Superbad" is infinitely better than being "the martial arts chud nobody likes"

Journalists, human rights advocates and open source analysts recoiled in horror at the initial decision: "The opportunities for abuse and disinfo are literally boundless," said one.

Cat parenting is not like human parenting, except when the two cats are squabbling, and I have to holler something like, “do you two want me to come over there?” Or “leave your sister alone, she doesn’t want to play right now!”
My meta-discourse is that spending the day arguing about a movie review is a right and proper use of social media, and infinitely more fun than the usual thing that happens around here
We just spent ALL DAY arguing with each other, the sky and the wine-dark sea about Emily Wilson's critique of Nolan's Odyssey. I'm starting to consider muting the word "Odyssey". Bluesky has the juice!
Someone got told off for biting too hard and is sulking about it
I generally think these themed popcorn buckets are "overconsumption core" so I hate how much I like/want the IMAX camera one.

There is a very large, very buzzy bug clattering around my home office, which means I've ceded the home office to it. Now, we wait for Household Bug Remover @dogunderwater.bsky.social to return from the rare in-person work day..............
Oh hey, this is dope - we talked with her a little over halfway through her journey, while she was in the middle of the Pacific. She did it! www.npr.org/2026/06/16/n...
From the middle of the ocean, Kelsey Pfendler on rowing solo across the pacific
NPR's Ailsa Chang talks with Kelsey Pfendler, who is rowing solo from California to Hawaii. She is attempting to become the first American woman to do so.

It has been criminally underreported but Kelsey Pfendler has just rowed solo across the Pacific Ocean from the US coast to Hawaii in record time. A 2,400-mile unsupported journey in 43 days, 17 hours, and 55 minutes. Notably beating the Men’s record by 9 whole days.
Ugh, it happened to me: feeling emotionally better after working out at the gym
Today sure was a bad day for one of my ears to develop *checks notes* low-frequency tinnitus..............................
A completely new cat just tried to walk into our house???? The CDS is on one, absolutely out of control.
The erosion of social norms — like one of not scrolling aimlessly through your phone apps during the emotional climax of a Broadway musical — is going to turn me into a confrontational person, stg.
So how on Earth am I going to see BigBang when they’re in Oakland the same time I’m in LA to see BTS. Am I about to fly cross country the day of their show in New Jersey?? Or act really irresponsibly and try for the show in Taipei around my birthday??? (Presuming I can even get tix)
Yo, so all that saging and collective good will really worked!!!
So glad I witnessed a man saging Madison Square Garden for the Knicks. Lots of “WHATEVER IT TAKES!!!” back and forth with passersby happened.
