More River Forest Park in North Kansas City, Missouri.
Had an early appointment at NKC Health and it took 5 minutes, so I stopped at the relatively new River Forest Park, which is located just west of the hospital. I had the park all to myself—if you don't count the wildlife.
“Federal health investigators have linked the outbreak to shredded iceberg lettuce produced by Taylor Farms in Mexico.” So, is Taylor Farms immune to lawsuits because they are in Mexico? Taylor’s the problem.
Federal health investigators have linked the outbreak to shredded iceberg lettuce produced by Taylor Farms in Mexico. The lettuce was served at Taco Bell locations in several states, including Kansas. (@kmuw.bsky.social)

Jackson County spent $28,000 to send Manny Abarca and 3 others to Hawaii. What did taxpayers get?
Two legislators and two staff members spent a week in Hawaii attending a conference aimed at county governments in western states. They also took a side trip to Pearl Harbor.

If we can hang on till January, we will be at peak snowball capacity.
I heard the USA is running out of missiles. Kinda means you lost then, huh.
All soccer leagues should team up and create a new World Cup and trash FIFA.

"Despite the warnings and mounting attention, the library continued with the story time.... [where] Columbia residents showed up to support the decision, writing affirming messages on the sidewalk in front of the library...." Bet Sophie was mad. As were these two ninnies clutching their pearls.
The event featured two picture books: “Rainbowsaurus,” which follows a family in search of a rainbow dinosaur, and “Big Wig,” which tells the story of a young child who dresses up in drag and wins a costume contest. www.thepitchkc.com/missouri-rep...
Admittedly, there are not a lot of candidates for me (Ken Lay, maybe?), but Sophie Cunningham is easily my least favorite Mizzou Tiger.
“It’s almost like people in Kansas City want some way for their opinions to be heard beyond writing down questions and having team officials pick and choose which ones to answer…” Billionaires are cowards.
Amid chants of "Let us vote!", Kansas Citians expressed lots of questions about the Royals stadium project, starting with why the city is rushing this plan through after voters overwhelmingly rejected public stadium funding in 2024.
Hard to believe that headline was AI-generated.
"One note: Customers will book reservations with their credit card and must cancel 24 hours in advance or be charged a fee of $15 per person, a policy with some big-city restaurants that has been mostly rebuffed by Kansas Citians." Yep, this is not V's from Independence.

Regulation is good for both business and consumer, actually. People aren’t just not buying Taylor Farms lettuce, they’re not buying ANY lettuce. Regulation and oversight creates consumer confidence, which is good for everyone.
O. M. G. We know Trump is devoid of any redeeming qualities, but I thought the journalists—even the WSJ journalists—could not appear as soul-less as this.
Remarkable camera angle of President Trump as he listens to Wall Street Journal reporters receiving an award for their investigation into Trump’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein — which they pursued despite Trump’s threats and lawsuit.
Barry Road is not in Jackson County. But never mind that. The point is, f*ck Frank White. Our taxes went up 89% in one year. So, 74% illegal, I guess. (And what is "people who paid property taxes in 2024 and 2024"? I guess I'm in grumpy editor mode today.)
The settlement would include more than 200,000 people who paid property taxes in 2024 and 2024, and would return all the money Jackson County charged in assessments that was over the state-mandated 15% cap.
Crazy how America has zero journalists who can figure out what’s up with Mitch. We don’t even try anymore. We might as well all be zombies.

From Armour and Main, I just heard the haunting, mighty whistle of the Big Boy—Union Pacific 4014–arriving at KC’s Union Station. What a magical sound.
