The grid doesn't know how your state voted. Neither does a methane leak, or a battery plant, or a hydrogen hub. Trump's Energy Department does. And this month, it admitted to not only knowing it, but acting on it, in writing.

June: Energy Secretary Chris Wright was asked if federal grants should depend on how a state votes: "They shouldn't and they weren't." July: Wright's DOE, in a court filing, admits terminations were "based solely on the political identity of the grant recipient's state."

In 2010, about 3,200 wild tigers were left. Today there are over 5,500. That wasn't luck. 13 governments, together, protected tiger habitat. On 7/14, Trump's Fish and Wildlife Service cut habitat destruction from the definition of "harm" under the Endangered Species Act. Happy Global Tiger Day. 🐅
Habitat loss is the leading cause of extinction. The ESA brought back the bald eagle, the American alligator, and the California condor. All by protecting the places they live. www.worldwildlife.org/our-work/wil...
Double tigers
Tigers are close to extinction. WWF aims to double wild tiger populations through habitat protection, anti-poaching efforts, and community engagement.

92% of public comments to the federal government supported the rule to let people lease public land to restore it. Trump still repealed it. Then BLM approved 6027 new drilling permits. Center for American Progress now counts 86+ mil acres ripped of protection. Happy World Nature Conservation Day.
If this were any other presidency, it would be astonishing that BLM published that permit number themselves, as if it were some kind of accomplishment to be proud of.
⛽ In February, gas averaged $2.96 a gallon. It's near $4.11 now. A conflict 8K miles away. A third more on every fill-up. That's what depending on fossil fuels buys you. Check prices here: gasprices.aaa.com

Heartfelt gratitude to Britt Gondolfi for speaking at the Council's New Orleans meeting. Britt is a lawyer, an organizer, and a children's book author from Southeast Louisiana. At Bioneers she coordinates the Rights of Nature in Indian Country Initiative.
RFK on Monday: "We do have the outbreak under control." Well, no. Michigan added ~600 cyclosporiasis cases the very next day. That's OUT of control, not UNDER control. The state normally sees 50 annually an dit's already past 7,000 in July. Nationally, cases are at 11,500+, nearly 17x last year.
A lettuce recall explains about 400 of those cases. The other 11,000 have no named source — because RFK Jr.'s CDC made tracking this parasite optional and USDA cut ~900 food-safety staff.
Fund and fight for food safety. And that means taking the climate crisis seriously: Cyclospora needs 1–2 weeks at 72–90°F to turn infectious. Warming increases the number of those days. Elect Democrats.
The Council's Summer Meeting is Friday, August 14 at 4PM in Austin, an official event of the DNC Summer Convention. Panels on Texas's climate and environmental justice fights, and on why climate wins in November. All are welcome.

Good news: local opposition blocked or delayed at least 75 data center projects worth about $130 billion between January and March this year alone. We absolutely need ironclad regulations to protect communities and people. Your voice matters. Our voices matter. This is the receipt.

The beautiful Boundary Waters is closed: 17 fires, 55K acres + National Guard mobilized. All south of the border. These are Climate Wildfires. But Trump blames the smoke on Canada and wants to bill them. One fire is burning on both sides of the border. You can't tariff, deport or wall it off.
Minnesota's fires began with a dry thunderstorm — thousands of lightning strikes into drought-dried forest. That's the climate crisis, not forest management. 48 uncontained large fires are burning nationally; 3.7 million acres so far this year. fire.airnow.gov @democrats.org

Trump's Forest Service wants to log 4,401 acres on Yellowstone's doorstep, and 824 of them would be clearcut under "emergency" authority that fast-tracks it AND that erases the public's right to appeal. What emergency?
