Our new study ⬇️inspired by the question: does psilocybin influence meta-learning and cortical processing of unexpected uncertainty? Why is this important? Meta-learning may be critical for therapeutic effects of psychedelics and how the trip creates a window that facilitates clinical intervention

Peep my dude Samuli’s (@kangaslampi.bsky.social) interview on psychedelics and (false) memory recovery by the inimitable Shayla Love (@shaylalove.bsky.social). “…perhaps it’s never too late to have a traumatic childhood if you really go looking for it.” Brilliant!

Do psychedelics create false memories? 5 Questions with psychologist Samuli Kangaslampi

Kangaslampi discusses the need to study autobiographical memories that may emerge during trips.

This is interesting to me because in rollerblading, I tend to see more left vs. right spinners, including myself (see clip below). Left spinners will even do tricks/grinds with their non-dominant foot/feet positioning to avoid spinning to the right, something I rarely see with right spinners.

If you start moving the odds are you'll do it in counterclockwise circles. Believe it or not, it's true. We proved it here: www.nature.com/articles/s41... Thanks Iñaki Echeverría and the Navarra Granular Lab gang for letting me be a part of this amazing paper!

"AI's imagination is bounded by what has already been written in the training corpora. Non-reasoning language models collapse into a narrow "hivemind" of similar ideas." arxiv.org/abs/2606.08251 I've reviewed a couple AI-written papers now, and this was exactly my thoughts. 1/2

Contemporary AI lacks the imagination to diverge or negate in science

Dr. Kristjan Kaup successfully defeated his opps, and then we did the most Estonian celebration ever, sauna (literally at the institute) and a cold plunge in the river. Such a great time. Next stop Amsterdam!

In Tartu, Estonia to be an “opponent” in Kristjan Kaup’s PhD defense. Thanks @jaanaru.bsky.social for bringing me out here. Already digging this place and always love the opportunity to be an opp in academia lol. This photo was taken at ~10:30 PM by the way. Great daylight for a night owl.

New paper by Bruno Moses, Enzo Tagliazucchi, & me in which we critique the Entropic Brain Hypothesis & neural entropy metrics regarding what they can tell us about psychedelic fx. Lots of technical and theoretical points, but I'd like to highlight a few. 1/10 www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

A critical review of brain entropy as a biomarker of the psychedelic state

Serotonergic psychedelics induce profound alterations in consciousness, giving rise to an altered state commonly referred to as the psychedelic state.…

This paper has been a long time coming. Instead of reanalyzing the same old resting-state fMRI datasets, we combined nearly all datasets around the world. Note that we didn't exactly find indisputable evidence for "default mode network disintegration." www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Analysis of neuroimaging datasets across five major psychedelics revealed a shared brain signature and provides a comprehensive insight into how these drugs reorganize brain architecture.
