First day back at the cafe since returning to the tsundere project and, lo and behold, the vibes were immaculate and the writing successful.

Not me wondering why finding the narrative voice for this new project is so hard and then realizing it's because the last two I've gone have been first-person and extremely verbose third-person, neither of which fit what I'm doing now.

It's been too long. It's time I got back to writing about tsunderes.

I've been pondering a bit this week, as I've been in the weeds of heavy second/third draft editing of a novelette I hope to submit to a spec fic mag, whether I actually want to be the type of writer who revises and edits stories in an attempt to adequately polish them for publishers/readers.

I would love to know what in my psychology gives me such a strong desire to work from my standing desk when I'm really plugging away at a writing project.

I don't think writers should be allowed to have their characters taking "steadying breaths" anymore. If your characters would be drunk by the end of the book if they were taking a steadying swig of whiskey instead of steadying breaths, they're breathing too much.

Author who is already working on one story for an unannounced contest: what if I wrote a romcom for another contest that starts in two weeks.

Sometimes you get an idea for a space cyberpunk soccer story and spend an afternoon writing a couple scenes so you have something to remind you what the idea was all about when you finally have time to come back to it in 7 years.

Slowly working my way back into writing form after the vacation into holiday's combo. It's very silly that finally solidifying the first antagonist's magic is what's given me the jump start I was looking for.
