If you’re creating Display P3 app icons in Icon Composer, QuickLook previews (FB23465822) and exporting (FB23826296) both look desaturated. It seems like colours are being clamped to sRGB. Tested in macOS 26, macOS 27, Icon Composer 1, and Icon Composer 2.

We’ve gone from 1 app icon size on the original Mac, expanding to many app icon sizes, and are now back to 1 app icon size for macOS. I think the 16×16pt icons suffer from not being separate assets, but I won’t miss creating so many asset sizes.

macOS 27 mini review as a designer: All design tools are working as expected, with one exception. Generator in Photoshop is broken. That’s not a huge deal though. At this point, I‘m very happy to be running the beta.

Apple friends: Icon Composer’s QuickLook previews are incorrect for Display P3 icons. This bug exists across Icon Composer 1 and 2, as well as macOS 15, 26, and 27. Feel free to ask if you need more info. FB23465822 includes a test doc and screenshot.

Today’s Adobe gripes: Why have they reinvented notifications, with this giant Photoshop update window that appeared when Photoshop wasn’t open? I think it may have blocked me logging into my Mac, too.

I am not into the macOS 26 brightness and volume overlays changing position. Normally they’re top right, but that moves to top center if you’re in full screen mode.

A guide to exporting from Photoshop: Full control over how many colours are in a PNG? Save For Web. 16 bit per channel? Save As or Save a Copy. Export artboards? Export As only. Animated GIF? Save For Web. h.264 video? Render Video, obviously.
