Martian CEO @inazarova.bsky.social is talking to founders choosing Rails and @marckohlbrugge.com was an obvious success story. And his advice isn’t about “hustle” or “grit” ...but curiosity, speed, and a willingness to be publicly wrong.

I'm looking to get some press coverage for BlueskyCounter.com Who should I talk to?
Some recent improvements: - Followers are now updated in real-time using firehose data - Fixed some bugs causing incomplete data - Fixed some bugs in chart rendering - Switched default period from "all" to "last 3 months" - Added ability for me to manually add accounts w/o OAuth
I converted BlueskyCounter.com 's codebase from Node to Ruby on Rails. It should be more reliable now and I can add more features quicker 🙌

it's just because the post US-election boom, all those new users. new follows are down way more than new likes and posts. we're just reaching a different phase where starterpacks are less of a growth source. (graph from bsky.jazco.dev/stats)
The atproto omniauth strategy is out ! And thanks to @marckohlbrugge.com and @mackuba.eu's didkit it can now resolve its endpoints dynamically (it's not a bluesky only strategy anymore)
I keep finding cool 3rd-party apps and projects built for Bluesky, so I've started to collect them all here: justinjackson.ca/best-bluesky... Did I miss any?
Best Bluesky apps, projects, tools I've found

Thought he could be a lil more cozy :)
What should I add to BlueskyCounter.com next? 💡 Track posts/follows in chart as well 💡 Detailed post analytics (likes, replies, etc) 💡 Browser extension (see stats in bsky.app sidebar) 💡 Trends/predictions (see when you reach milestone, etc) Any of this? Something else? Let me know 👇
BlueskyCounter is starting to use up my full database capacity 😅 Time to learn how to implement caching in Node Express. (I normally use Ruby on Rails for all my projects, but decided on Node here cuz of the libraries).
CSS question: When loading blueskycounter.com/marckohlbrug... for a fraction of a second, the sidebar is hidden. It appears shortly after page load. Anyone know why? I expect it to be shown immediately

You can now easily share your follower chart to Bluesky. Make sure you're logged in and click "Share to Bluesky" 😊 https://blueskycounter.com/marckohlbrugge.com
I think everyone should have Bluesky analytics free of charge, so BlueskyCounter.com main features will be free. To monetize, and support continued development, I’m exprimenting with “Featured Profiles”. If you want to promote your account and get more followers, you can pay to be in the sidebar.
You can now download your charts as PNG to share on Bluesky or wherever else :) (thank you to everyone who requested this)
I’m learning to accept “bugs” like these. Yes they are easy to fix, but if you’re not careful you find yourself pursuing 100 “easy to fix” things, instead of making real progress on the stuff that matters.
this street cat visits me everyday. we hang out on my doorstep and I feed it some snacks 😊
1-click follows on blueskycounter.com are live now what else should I add?
blueskycounter.com is back online! It now shows historical follower growth all the way back from when you firsted signed up to Bluesky Reposts appreciated 😊
I’ve been rebuilding blueskycounter.com to support historical data. Finally got it working locally 😊 Had to switch from Ruby to Javascript, as there’s no proper Ruby libraries for AT Proto yet and man the protocol is complex 😂
Does anyone have a working OAuth code example for Node JS and AT Proto? I tried the official docs, but they are incomplete
A lot of people on X state that saying something along the lines of “there are only two genders” gets you banned on Bluesky. Is this true?
Here's how far I got: github.com/marckohlbrug... It accepts a handle (e.g. marckohlbrugge.com), finds the right auth server to redirect to (looks at TXT records, etc). Redirects you there. Finally redirects you back to the app. That's where I hits an error

ok I've given up on this 😅 too complicated. hope someone can figure it out someday or that bluesky invests into developing some more open source libraries

For any Ruby devs interested in Bluesky OAuth, here's my current work: gist.github.com/marckohlbrug... Logging in works, but refreshing tokens doesn't yet. And access tokens tend to expire in 30 minutes.
