Living my best life and really depressed about it.

Logged onto my old threads acct just to see what’s up and holy shit! The feed is a stream of AI bullshit, engagement bait, and a sprinkling of normal posts inbetween but they are all worded in a weird sort of “please let the algorithm see me” way. Algorithms really are fucking everything up.

I haven’t opened Instagram in like 3 years, and in the last week or so I’ve gotten something like 20 password recovery requests. I’d change my password, but why…it seems to be working.

This movie really is a wonder. I think it interests me less for the actual ideas being expressed than for the sheer audacity of a film showing people meeting for dinner and having an actual meaningful, deep conversation discussing ideas and truths rather than the latest gossip or water-cooler talk.

This Film often has the piss taken out of it for being a rather sedentary piece about 2 people just talking a lot — BUT — it has one of the most brilliantly prescient monologues in the history of Movies imho. MY DINNER WITH ANDRE (1981) Have a listen.

Was listening to Hold On by Ian Gomm, and it’s a pretty nondescript pop rock song from the 80s, but at the 25 second mark when the bass comes in Herbie Flowers does a wonderful little riff and I had to rewind it 4 times to hear it again and again. So good!

Sometimes I wonder if I'm a brain in a vat. Then I remember that Jared Leto keeps getting work, and I realize that couldn't possibly be true because who would make that up?

It’s somehow apropos that corporate america went ahead with making Gremlins 3 despite the scathing indictment of corporate america that was Gremlins 2. You tried, Joe Dante. You tried.

CNN had a DSA person on and asked a series of yes or no policy questions like “abolish prisons, abolish the pentagon, abolish borders” to which they said “yes” each time. Ridiculous scaremongering to lay these policy positions on progressive dems who are mostly supporting the DSA for healthcare.
