I love how all Youtube phone reviewers are going: "This company bet the house on this new phone!" "Amazing upgrades for the upcoming new phone!" "This proves that this new phone is a downgrade" "You don't really need to upgrade to the new phone" And they're all referring to the same product.
"Bluesky is an echo chamber" as opposed to what, Twitter? Threads? Mastodon? As opposed to what? You're not upset that Bluesky is an echo chamber, you're upset that we quickly uninvite bullshit from our feeds and comments. We don't platform hate in our feeds and THAT, that is the thing you hate.

In 2024-2025 fiscal year NY collected $162 BILLION in taxes. This initiative has a budget of $70 million. 0.04% of NY's tax revenue. If you paid $100 in taxes, this initiative would cost you, as a consumer, 4 pennies. This is a rounding error on your taxes, not the socialist end of the world.

One of the things that few smartphone reviewers talk about which I feel should be mentioned is that when you buy a phone that isn't made by Apple, Samsung or Google (to a lesser extent) you essentially become a second-rate citizen in terms of accessories.
I don't think a $100 novelty alarm clock is the way to do that.

I humbly propose an alternative to "Vote blue no matter who" I haven't figured out how to make it rhyme yet but maybe we can brainstorm it together: "You represent me, you mother fucker, not your donors."
I don't think it's a Liberal, or Left Wing matter, for people to have basic body autonomy and rights. Media has spent a lot of time normalizing the idea that cis individuals, or men, have more rights than others and I reject that premise. Either we all have the same rights or none of us have any.

I was riding home today on my motorcycle and a car got dangerously close to me and suddenly it came to me that using one of those glasses with cameras is the only use case for those types of devices that I can think of where you're not being an asshole for wearing one and it can help you and others.

rue@deathcarpets.sisc.one · 2w agoIf buying a product on your digital software store does not confer ownership of that copy of the product, or licensing rights that are close to physical ownership, and if removing said product from our libraries isn't theft, then neither is downloading unlicensed copies of the software.
