I’m not sure I have many feelings about the app I use to submit my expenses; were any to somehow develop, I seriously doubt that “love” would be one of them.

This is curiously phrased? The next total solar eclipse isn’t “expected” on 23 Sept 2090 - it’s an astronomical certainty. So it WILL happen on 23/9/90 (barring astronomically unlikely events like the Moon moving off its current orbit because of an “accident” at the MuskTrump Space Base ™️ in 2078)

The grim reaper keeps on reaping. Earlier today, we had the news of the death of Ed Stourton, who I worked with many times at Radio 4 on The World This Weekend. Such a kind, courteous, knowledgeable guy. And now Kevin Keegan. Such sad losses.

I am being unnecessarily wound up by a BBC podcast where the clearly British presenter keeps saying “schedule” but “sked” not “shed” at the start, as well as “so and so DISputes the allegations” when it should be “disPUTES”
Yes the Guardian’s website has a global audience; yes it’s a story about the US economy but even so. The word “gotten” is still like nails down a blackboard to me. (Also - does anyone under 30 understand “nails down a blackboard” if their classrooms didn’t have them? What’s the modern version?)
The death of the last MP to have fought in WWII might have been the main person featured on Last Word; this week, he’ll probably feature fifth or sixth.

Very sad news - he was a highly knowledgeable correspondent, about Italy and the Vatican equally. (Brief Lives on Radio Four might need an hour next week, given the multitude of high profile deaths there have been recently)
These might look like made-up names for places in the UK but they are all genuine…
