Bibliophile. Yorkshire to the core. Addicted to family, local and military history research. Always learning.

An emotional day. I have removed 75 books from my fiction shelves, to be rehomed. That’s on top of the 105 I previously removed 🙁 Not that anyone except me would know, plenty more around the house to refill the shelves, and more 📚☺️📚

As it is #YorkshireDay it is an excuse to post a photo of my favourite view in #York which is my favourite place in Yorkshire and my favourite city in the world. We have such beautiful coast and countryside, a county of great variety but this fills my heart with joy. Pesky white van would not move!

The spirit of place is often difficult to define in a photograph. For me, this comes close. First light streaming through York Minster's Great East Window. One of those fleeting moments that has stayed with me ever since I pressed the shutter button.

I am not going to do this every day, but here is another treasure from my #MuseumOfFamilyStuff, painted by my Gt Grandfather in 1918. Pen painting with oils on fabric (and difficult to photograph because of reflections). @chiddickstree.bsky.social @kaz747.bsky.social #Genealogy

Not sure of the best way to keep #MuseumOfFamilyStuff going so trying this way. Item 2, a fun one 😊 I don’t recall if this was from my Gt Grandmother or from the Great Aunts. Still in use. Not for original purpose (😆), it is now a plant holder!

1/2 I am starting a thing. I live surrounded by objects large and small, documents and photographs all pertaining to and passed down by previous family members. I have become the keeper of the #MuseumOfFamilyStuff so I will share some. @kaz747.bsky.social @chiddickstree.bsky.social Cont .. 👇🏻

Today’s Facebook memory- when I found the original 35mm slides of our boat being launched. The boat Wot I built in the garage (with a little help from dad 😉). Launched in style with Babycham poured over the bow. Captain took first circuit then off went Captain and First Mate ☺️ 1/2

This is a sad photograph. At first sight it may not seem so but for the past few years I have had a pair of pigeons regularly billing and cooing on the wall. A happy pair. Pigeons are monogamous. 2 days ago I found pigeon feathers and entrails at the bottom of the garden. Now, a single pigeon 😢

Rather pleased with the productiveness of my ‘cutting bed’ although I am now having to resort to jam jars! So many more to come, these were picked over the past few days, rearranged to fit vases with today’s cuttings. Not to forget the raspberries and cucumbers I am now collecting too. ☺️
