The mountains of eastern Alludan were beautiful in late summer. Kay’s boots crushed the cheery wildflowers littering the slopes, petals of blues, whites, and pinks sticking to her damp boots with morning dew. They were the same varieties she used to run through briefly in her youth, before the weight of the world crushed her too.
