About 2 years since the completion of 'Sonic Pasts: acoustical heritage and historical soundscapes'. A great moment to celebrate the many books that inspired my work. In this pile are only books that I own physical copies of, but lots more were consulted + multiple articles and other sources.

Today is Borges' birthday and it is a great source of pride that I got to study in the same Faculty in which he used to teach. I like reminding people of that when they question the level of Latin American universities 😇

Ésta vez un mensaje para mi gente en Latinoamérica y el Caribe. Si tienen unos minutos para completar la encuesta estaría muy agradecida 🙏 tinyurl.com/2twuzpfd This time a message for my people in Latin America and the Caribbean. If you have a few minutes to complete the survey I'd be so grateful.

As part of my work on sound heritage, I'm running a short survey on sounds (not music) that are important personally/culturally to people from different parts of the world. It's available in different languages. If you can contribute and share the survey with others please do ❤️ tinyurl.com/2twuzpfd

Question: what happened to the lemon and poppy seed muffins? When I first moved to the UK they were everywhere, so much so that I told several people that they were a typical/traditional treat in the UK...😅 but I have not seen them for ages. What happened to them?

Lovely to see so many thoughtful responses come through 😊 The survey is now available in 3 languages: English, Spanish and Japanese. Thanks to students/staff from the Department of Language and Linguistics (York) for facilitating this. Do complete it and share if you can: tinyurl.com/5579y76e

A friend gifted me some wonderful fabric for a dress or something of the sort, but I have no sewing skills - literally none. Does anyone know someone at York who does this sort of work and that you would recommend? It would be a shame not to use it but I can't even sew a button...honestly.

Booking a hotel with the university's booking system is quite a process. Most of them are marked with an 'attention' sign meaning either a) this is super dodgy don't book it or b) this is too expensive, who do you think you are?
