I gave Wally a carrot for the first time "what am I supposed to do witg this"
"more than 4 million people are estimated to have already lost the critical food aid between last July and April — many of whom are children" *children*
SNAP, also known as food stamps, has seen a rapid and consistent participation decline since last July. The drop comes as the program faces historic cuts and changes.
it's always such a treat when shohreh aghdashloo pops up in something i'm watching.
"my 'I didn't hit my wife' video has people asking a lot of questions already answered by my video"
Waffles: *burying a greenie like he used to hide his dentastix* Wally: "can I eat it when he's done"
and honestly as a former trial lawyer who has had excellent paralegals and filed so many form motions -- watching SWEs crash out over having a robot write code is certainly An Experience.
the value is in understanding architecture, accessibility, performance, user needs -- if you think the value is solely in the 1s and 0s you're gonna have a bad time as the rest of us focus on the other things and use the robots to get faster. being able to write code was never the special part.
i didn't know we were supposed to take pride in writing boilerplate ?? for my lawyer friends: this is the same as complaining that people are copying motions from the firm library and signing their name to them
1) Artisinal code is unfortunately meaningless. The industrialization of our craft is improving quality. So, this is irrelevant. 2) “The point is the code” vs “The point is the software”
one way to increase the likelihood of a chill experience on this website is to block people being pedantic and annoying in someone else's mentions don't let them come for you. don't let them become the main character. just block them and keep scrolling.
i had to remind both paul AND waffles that wally has only been here for 4 months and he's dealing with a lot more space than Waffles did -- 4 months in Waffles had been graduated to a playpen when I was at work, and other than that we were in my 900sqft apartment.
Tfw you were relaxing on the recliner in the dark and now it smells like Nature's Miracle and the lights are on because your brother ruins everything

so when waffles's cardiologist said to reduce salt, i cut out his daily snack - a bacon-flavored pork chomp. i'd started giving him a lunch snack years ago to make sure his tummy wasn't empty too long so he wouldn't be nauseated and would eat meals more consistently. SO -
wally: *aggressively trying to play with a non-morning-person waffles* me: *gives wally a calming treat to take the edge off* waffles: *STARES INDIGNANTLY DUE TO TREAT INEQUITY* me: bro you don't need that that's not a treat that's to protect you
I wonder if his little brain ever processes that he went from the street to more toys and pillows and dog beds than he knows what to do with.
BABY BELUGA IN THE DEEP BLUE SEA SWIM SO WILD AND YOU SWIM SO FREE May be the only thing that activates me like a sleeper agent the way Deep in the Heart of Texas does.
this might actually be how we achieve world peace
All these years it really *was* for the articles!
Yeah i a- wait, playboy?!
I forgot wife, but that's probably because I've never bought Paul a tie in the 9+ years we've been together. I've been *with* him and helped him choose, but I've never gifted one.
if you're ever in a profesional environment and need to win over a suit: say you love his tie and ask where he got it most men don't buy their own ties - it's almost guaranteed to get them talking about their mom/sister/aunt/daughter, which makes them happy, and they associate that with you

A thing I learned a while back that blew my mind is that men almost never receive compliments, especially cishet men. Giving a man a compliment will literally make their year
instead of a new kindle i got an ipad mini with a pencil pro a while back - i have all these technical books i haven't read because i'm an Old and just never got used to reading on my monitors, but i kept collecting digital versions because they were so much less expensive than paper.
The idea that someone would fake a mental health diagnosis for an exam is a little nutty given how many people don't so they don't have anything to disclose on their bar applications so they can actually get licensed.
Here's the discussion of the issue from the post I linked to; I don't know if that compounds the offensiveness or lessens it, but hopefully it explains a bit about where that one para is coming from.
i'm finally looking at changing my student loan plan (RIP SAVE) and i've paid down my loans enough that at this point i might be better off on the standard 10y plan which is insane.
every so often i consider taking the patent bar for funsies now that i can (my first B.S. was in political science lolwelp). just to see.
lol i got placed in the fun zone which i guess is nice* for my husband 😂 *jklol i'm not his peace i'm _his panic_
Huh. Well, sorry, marriage isn't on offer so...
Semi-regular reminder I'm raising $ for No Kid Hungry. Except I'm bad at raising money and keep forgetting to ask 🫠 They're going to need help given how many people are losing access to SNAP.
ALRIGHT NERDS I NEED YOUR HELP. Instead of being stressed about half marathon registration this year, and considering our current hellscape, I decided to do some good and get a charity bib instead - p2p.onecause.com/2027princess...
me never letting go of the "80s, 90s, and today!" radio station in the car.
“Psychology says people who listen to familiar songs on repeat aren’t stuck in the past: Research suggests repeated music helps regulate emotion and create a sense of stability.” timesofindia.indiatimes.com/life-style/s...
Lolllllll I remember these. And the fire risk we all decided was fine I guess.
Hey fellow Gen X friends, here’s something fun for you. Who remembers those cheap black torchiere lamps everyone had? Did you know they’re now a hot item on eBay priced from $150-225 for uncanny valley 90s nostalgia reenactments that look nothing like the 90s?
so my dad's older shih tzu, Sammy, HECKIN LOVES BUBBLES. chases after them. LEAPS. is full of JOY. years ago i tried them on waffles and all i got was "...? am i a joke to you??"
