Nobody should wait years for a home while houses sit empty down the road. Last year I asked ministers to give councils stronger powers on empty homes. Today we've announced it. This government is reversing Tory red tape and give these homes to local families in need.

Delighted to see Pat McFadden and DWP taking this step. For the many young disabled people who want to work, this will give them the right support and opportunity to take that first step, ensure they feel the dignity and self-respect that comes with a job.

Behind every loss is a family that deserves time to heal. Nobody should have to fight for time to grieve. Our Labour Government has announced that every worker will now have the legal right to bereavement leave following the death of an immediate family member or pregnancy loss.

Come with me for a walk around Penistone Agricultural Show, the pride of Penistone. It’s been held for over 150 years, and is now one of the largest one day shows in Northern England, and I’ve been going since I was little.

Great to chat to Ellie Colton on BBC Radio Sheffield about the acute issues facing women with endometriosis. I’ve been vocal about the medical misogyny that pervades healthcare. I’ll continue working with the Government to ensure all women are listened to, heard and believed.

I'm deeply disappointed by Reform-led Barnsley Council pulling the plug on £1.8 million for much needed work on the Penistone Paramount Cinema. I've launched a petition calling on Reform to reverse this decision. Sign the petition on my website here: www.marietidball.com/campaigns/sa...

Save Penistone Paramount

Penistone Paramount is a treasured community asset, and Barnsley Council should reverse their decision to shelve this project.

Labour are making on big shifts our NHS needs happen, moving from hospital to community, from sickness to prevention, and from analogue to digital. This new approach to our NHS is already working - this year, we've seen the largest fall in NHS waiting lists since 2009.

🌾 Happy Back British Farming Day 🚜 Farmers feed us and hold rural communities together. I'm proud we have a Government backing them, with millions of pounds for sustainable practies and improvements. I’m proud to back British farming, today and all year round

Heading down to Parliament for the first day after recess feels like the first day back at school ☺️ Good luck to all those children and young people starting back at school this week (and their parents and teachers too 😉).

The campaign to save Scout Dike is gaining momentum! Yesterday I spoke to BBC Look North along with Nick and Darren from Scout Dike Adventure about my petition asking Barnsley Council to pause its plans to demolish Scout Dike Activity Centre and allow the community to take it on.

A huge well done to everyone receiving their GCSE and vocational results today! 🌟 Congratulations to students across Penistone and Stocksbridge. I hope you take time today to recognise how far you have come and look forward to what comes next.

Today, Andy has announced immediate action to offer everyone who needs it a route off the streets by Christmas, through the new Rough Sleeping Programme. When the Prime Minister pledged to end rough sleeping, we said we'd move urgently from words to action. Today we're delivering on that promise.

Today marks the 81st Anniversary of VJ Day. The bravery of those who served, and resilience of their families who waited and worried at home, must never be forgotten. Thank you to everyone across our communities helping to commemorate this VJ Day Anniversary.

Congratulations to everyone receiving their A-level, T-Level and vocational results today! You should be incredibly proud of the hard work, determination and resilience that brought you to this point. I wish every student across Penistone and Stocksbridge the very best for the future.

Great news that @andyburnham has today announced new powers to crack down on the vape shops and dodgy businesses that have taken over our high streets and add no community value. This will put power back in the hands of local communities to have a real say over what opens on their high street.

Subscriptions that are easy to join but almost impossible to cancel, along with fake discounts, make life harder and cost people their hard-earned cash. I'm really pleased that the Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, is bringing forwards a crackdown on these practices.

It's fantastic news that Barnsley and Sheffield are going to benefit from new NHS mental health facilities, as part of the Government’s new package of 100 new community mental health services and 59 dedicated mental health emergency departments in England. 🏥

“We weren’t born to hate our bodies.” Bridgerton’s Gracie McGonigal and Coronation Street’s Melissa Johns join me on Tidballzy to discuss limb difference, sex, relationships, maternity and the power of representation. Listen wherever you get your podcasts.

Andy Burnham is right. We need a different kind of politics on social care. Problem-solving, not point-scoring. I know how much this system needs to change. I welcome cross-party talks and the Big Conversation on Care, because fixing this can't be one party's job.

Good news for pensioners across our country. The government has confirmed that if the state pension is your only source of income, you will not pay income tax. On top of that, the triple lock means 12 million pensioners will see their income rise by up to £470 this year alone.

Another great doorknocking session for our Penistone East by-election candidate, John Roberts. John lives in Penistone and was an exceptional councillor. Here’s hoping he wins it back when the by-election is held on Thursday 20th August🤞

🍻Cheers to this!🍻 The Prime Minister @andyburnham has announced that business rates are being slashed for pubs, clubs, and live music venues – providing £1,100 on average of breathing space per pub next year. I couldn’t be more delighted!
