Very happy that our paper was published in Limnology & Oceanography #ASLO_LO Huge shoutout to my co-authors🫰 & big thanks to reviewers and editors! May the year keep up this energy 🙌 @microbialoceanv.bsky.social @aslo.org @davehambright.bsky.social aslopubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...

Major contribution of particle‐associated microbes to deep‐sea organic carbon degradation

The biological carbon pump mediates the export of particulate organic carbon from the euphotic zone to the deep ocean, where it provides the base of the food web. Although deep-sea microbial metaboli...

@marinelena.bsky.social gave a compelling talk on “Distinct communities of particle-associated microbes drive organic carbon degradation in the dark ocean”. #SAME18 @same18-bcn.bsky.social

Check out what we were up to during our most recent expedition. Extremely grateful to be part of this adventure 🌊

From Vienna to the Atlantic Ocean: Tracing the deep sea's missing carbon 🌊 🔍 We join microbial oceanographer Gerhard Herndl and his team as they collect samples across the North Atlantic, from icy northern seas to the subtropical waters of the Azores. ⤵️ rudolphina.univie.ac.at/en/ocean-exp... 🧑‍🔬👩‍🔬🧪
