Excited to share that our paper, First Impressions Matter: Instructor Gender and Women’s Persistence in Economics, is now an Annenberg EdWorkingPaper. We use near-random assignment to intro econ instructors to study whether instructor gender shapes women’s persistence in economics.

I'm beyond honored that this work was recognized with the best poster award at the SOLE awards tonight. There were so many amazing posters being presented that having our research even in the conversation let alone winning is a dream.

It was great to be able to present our work on gender match and persistence in economics at #SOLE2026! In a job where you frequently get told that your research isn't good enough it is always nice to have people you admire praise the work you are doing.

My New Years resolution for 2026 is to say "yes" to more opportunities and be more confident in my skills. I kicked this off yesterday by agreeing to be interviewed on WPR this morning to discuss the November jobs report and what it means for Wisconsinites!
