Professional cook from Groningen, the Netherlands. Metalhead. Gamer. Fan of all things history. Very old adolescent. Married to @havelokthedutch.bsky.social‬ / Dad of 2.

Have been trying to find my exact decklist for the Magic: the Gathering Grand Prix in Utrecht in 2014. I know most of it by heart, as I loved that list. It was on a website somewhere, but it's been lost to time, I fear. :(.

Disastrous tidings, my work's supplier of nuts, fruits and dried stuff in general is no longer shipping their 2,5 kilograms and over quantities of nutritional yeast in buckets with a lid. Gone is free'ish supply of buckets for cleaning and storage. I feel personally targeted.

Has anyone that follows me seen the series "Loudermilk", and do you think it would be fun for a recovering alcoholic? I adore the work of Ron Livingston, but don't want to be depressed while adoring his work, ya know.

One of the things that has consistently radicalised me throughout my life is that whenever there's a war, the news will talk about cost to the economy as just as important or more important than the direct cost in human lives. As if there can be an economy without humans.

Playing through the Grand Theft Auto V story mode, because GTA VI is coming, at some point. Either way, the game is getting on a bit in age, but am finding it hilarious that the Facebook substitute in the game universe is called LifeInvader.

Random thought, Timothy Olyphant as Kirsh in Alien: Earth may just be my favourite supporting character ever. Eh, perhaps the role may be too big to warrant being labeled a supporting character. Either way, great f*cking performance. Emmy for best dye-job on the hair and eyebrows, too.

Called in sick from work, because, you know, sick. But also completely exhausted. There's a correlation between all those things and having kids. Obviously I knew this was a thing, but fucking hell, I've been forced to call in sick A LOT since we had kids.

I learn from Prit Buttar's "Meat Grinder: the battles for the Rzhev salient" that German equipment in the Soviet Union in '41 was wholly inadequate for destroying modern Russian and British tanks, the anti tank guns were derisively nicknnamed "army door-knocking equipment".

House of the Dragon is having a good season, am enjoying it immensely. Also enjoying all the behind the scenes stuff they've been consistently uploading to social media. Excellent stuff. Fantasy is great. Fantasy fanbases, hit or miss, generally.

We went to the local museum with the kids today. Found out that going to such a place with kids aged 2 and 4 is not that easy, so we didn't see very much of the excellent exhibition about hip hop, nor the other one about abstract and modernist art, will want to revisit some other day.

I learn from Prit Buttar's "Meat Grinder: the Battles for the Rzhev salient" that German intelligence for operation Barbarossa was partly based on a network codenamed "Max", supposed White Russian (tsarist) agents based in Sofia. Apparently they were mostly Soviet spies.

Have been AWFUL at finishing books the last decade or so. I've recently been discovering that my ADHD and previously undiagnosed autism might be a factor. I keep getting obsessed with things, and then putting them to the side. FRUSTRATING. :P

Was cycling home from work and was idly thinking about what PC games have never bored me, and I realised that Diablo II: Lord of Destruction might be the game I'll still be playing on my deathbed, it is literally perfect. (For me, anyway)

Good news, a wonderful time was had in a packed cinema, there was an applause when the credits rolled. Just a well made interpretation/adaptation of Homer. Would watch again, and I'm sure it'll make people want to read Homer, which I assume is the goal.

Dad has invited me to go to the cinema with him. He's keen to see a new independent film by some dude named Christopher Nolan. Apparently Jon Bernthal is in it. Will report back.
