Choosing careers these days is basically trying to figure out what industry hasn't been bought out by private equity firms and stripped for parts with the remains relegated to AI, and then trying to get in to it before all the entry-level jobs are ripped out beneath you as the cycle starts anew.

I'm used to getting rejection letters from jobs I've applied to, but this past year I've noticed a rather large shift from "thanks, but we hired someone else" to "thanks, but the job no longer exists and nobody got hired."
It seems like we could solve so many of our current problems just by banning the whole concept of "software as a service."
It's incredible that Windows 11 just can not recover from attempting to read a scratched CD from 2004. I don't understand how I need to hard reset my computer just because Explorer couldn't navigate a folder on a read-only external storage device in the year 2026.
Blender could never beat Maya in the sheer weirdness going on in there. In Maya, you set minimum and maximum values for an attribute with one command, and retrieve them with another. I just discovered that with rotational values, one expects angles in radians, while the other returns in degrees.
What's the plural for this? Fox McClouds? Foxes McCloud? Or just Star Foxes?
I haven't even said anything about AI, and I'm on the anti-ai ai-haters block list. That's how powerful I am.
I finally got to see the results of something I made the design for last year.
I replaced my computer's CPU and Adobe deactivated all my software, even though it's a fully licensed CS6 suite that I bought back in 2015. Didn't know they were that bitter about people still using their old software legitimately and not switching to a Creative Cloud subscription.
This might be one of the worst times to be having hardware issues. If it ends up being the ram, it's going to cost over twice what I paid for in 2019 to replace.
I wanted to keep this in my reel, so I went over the animation from 2017 to put a new layer of polish on it and pulled the textures from the old Houdini RAT files so that I could render it in Maya. I think I've fixed the problem I was having with the sheep rig, so that will be a future project.
Anyone remember how the Boston Massacre happened, the government labelled the victims as terrorists, and the whole event became one of many key events that led to the culmination of the American Revolution? Just wondering.

How are we supposed to endure another three years of this?
I guess the only thing that surprises me is that they actually managed to get this far before they inevitably caved.
I recently animated a shot for @punchcatstudios.bsky.social's Over The Garden Wall Reanimated project! The 2d portion was animated in Toon Boom Animate and then brought into Maya to simulate Fleischer Studios' multiplane camera setup.

Okay, maybe I should replace my car's water pump...
I'm not a mechanic, but I'm pretty sure my drive belt shouldn't be doing that.
My computer's power supply has started crapping out. I checked my records and I apparently bought it in 2012/13, so I probably should have already replaced it by now. Running an RTX3090 on it probably doesn't help, either.
This is an old #animation I did after university while looking for work. The assets were from the last group student film I participated in, Ram's Horn. I later found out that I pulled the wrong sheep copy, which had a broken rig so couldn't be animated. Audio is Street of Dreams by The Ink Spots.
This was another #animation project from an iAnimate class, that I later extended to the full audio clip. The audio is from the live-action Dr. Seuss movie "The 5000 Fingers of Dr. T"
An old #animation I did for an online iAnimate class.
More old art. This one is of Coyote the Trickster, in a style inspired by Native American art from the Pacific North-West Coast. The specific tribe I aimed to emulate was of the Tlingit people.
There were a few projects I did for university that revolved around an absolutely stellar bear pun over the course of a few classes for design in animation and 3d modeling, etc.
"Secret martian Nazi colony" now has a greater chance at becoming reality in the future than "flying cars that aren't just helicopters" does.
