If you’re celebrating Meta’s settlement of its lawsuit, you need to consider that all it did was purchase the authority to regulate itself. All of the structural changes in the world to mitigate its harm against minors will do nothing if their processes can be trivially sidestepped.

When Jerry Lewis died, I was struck by the near absence of anybody saying positive things about him. Apparently, he was just an awful person to those around him. That, instead of his legacy of comic genius, was what people talked about. This is a post about Dolly Parton.

Critical literacy is knowing that Doris Miller was a Black man and a hero of Pearl Harbor. Extra points for knowing that a Ford class aircraft carrier has been named after him and that the Trump administration is trying to name it after Trump instead.

From Chief Strategist at Google, Neil Hoyne: "Google and Google DeepMind just released their latest AI model that runs on your laptop. Not a data center. Not a subscription with a meter running in the background. Your machine, as in the one in front of you right now." blog.google/innovation-a...

“What determines outcomes is increasingly not how you prompt but whether you are inside the gating coalition, the higher rate-limit tier, the supported language, the approved jurisdiction; that requires a vocabulary for access, not usage.” —Carlo Iacono open.substack.com/pub/hybridho...

The Day AI Stopped Being Software

Anthropic's Code w/ Claude didn't launch a new model. It quietly ended the era we have all been arguing about.
